Graphic: Alleged MS-13 Gang Member Arrested for the Rape of an 11-Year Old Girl
An alleged MS-13 gang member is under arrest in New York City in the rape of an 11-year-old girl, the New York Post reported.
Julio Cesar Ayala, 18, raped the girl in her Brooklyn apartment while her brother slept in a bunk bed below her, prosecutors contend.
In a Sunday arraignment in Brooklyn Criminal Court, the Post reported, prosecutors revealed Ayala “pushed aside an air conditioner and slid through the second-floor window of his young victim’s Prospect Lefferts Gardens home late Wednesday.”

“The creep — who was carrying a phony US immigration green card — first flicked the lights in the room on and off and shuffled things around on top of a dresser before climbing into the top bunk of the bed with the girl, according to officials,” the Post reported.
“As the victim’s brother lay in the bunk below, Ayala undressed the girl and began to rape her, authorities said.
“The preteen let out a terrified scream, sending her parents running into the room and Ayala fleeing the apartment — leaving his Chicago Bulls cap lying on the dresser, authorities said.”
While he tried to change his clothes to avoid detection, the suspect was caught on surveillance camera and police knew whom to look for. Law enforcement was eventually able to put together the pieces and find him at his East 21st Street apartment building, less than half a mile from the crime scene.
There, he was arrested by NYPD officers — but not before a chase.
“When police pounded on Ayala’s door Saturday afternoon, a woman answered, as Ayala peered over her shoulder,” the Post noted.
“He vaulted out the apartment window and sought refuge in an under-construction building nearby but was quickly found and cuffed by cops.”
When he was taken into custody, he allegedly confessed to the rape.
“Yes,” he told interrogators, according to the New York Post. “I have never done anything like this before.”
“We’re shocked,” cousin Karen Ayala, 17, told the Post at Ayala’s arraignment. “We don’t think he’s capable of doing something like this.”
His Legal Aid lawyer argued similarly, according to the Post, saying Ayala had recently moved from Virginia and that he was gainfully employed at his uncle’s air conditioning business.
The lawyer, Anna Boksenbaum, also said the alleged victim couldn’t pick Ayala out of a lineup, meaning that the case could be one of mistaken identity.
While his immigration status wasn’t clear, his only identification at the time of his arrest were fraudulent immigration and Social Security cards, the Post reported. A native of El Salvador, Ayala doesn’t have an arrest record in the United States but has allegedly been detained by police as a suspected member of the MS-13 gang.
The New York City area has been a hotbed for the gang, which a White House fact sheet defines as “a violent transnational gang primarily composed of immigrants or descendants of immigrants from El Salvador.”
“Approximately 38 percent of all murders in Suffolk County, New York, between January 2016 and June 2017, were linked to MS-13,” the fact sheet claims. Suffolk County, on Long Island, lies a short distance to the east of Brooklyn.
Prosecutors ultimately decided on a $500,000 bail for Ayala, who is now “facing a slew of charges including rape, burglary, and possession of a forged instrument.”
And, as for residents of Brooklyn, they want him held accountable if guilty — although perhaps via extralegal means.
“This freak, he needs the neighborhood to take care of him,” Prospect Lefferts Gardens resident Tanyka Williams said. “That’d be justice.”
The justice system isn’t going to do that — but if he’s found guilty, he’s going to be in prison for a long time.
A better solution might be to take aim at MS-13 before stuff like this happens, though. We don’t know whether Ayala is guilty, but plenty of other MS-13 members have done worse. That should scare every American.
