Guard Opens Fire Inside Fox 5's Lobby in DC, 1 Man Shot

Share

There was a shooting incident Monday afternoon inside the lobby of the Fox 5 television studio in Washington D.C. The station, whose call letters are WTTG, is the local Fox affiliate in the capital city.

WRC-TV, the local NBC affiliate, reported that an unidentified man attempted to force his way into the WTTG studio after breaking out the glass of a set of doors or windows. He was confronted by a security guard who initially attempted to use pepper spray to subdue him. But when that failed to quell his aggressive behavior, the guard shot the intruder in the lobby.

The suspect, a black male who was reportedly demanding the station’s news team make contact with President Donald Trump on his behalf to relay an unknown message, was transported to George Washington University Hospital with a gunshot wound to the upper torso. He is expected to survive.

Will Cockey, a photojournalist for WTTG, captured video of the suspect being wheeled out on a stretcher prior to being transported to the hospital. The suspect appeared awake and alert, and even appeared to lock eyes with the cameraman at one point.

WTTG reporter Evan Lambert provided a thread of tweets to share details revealed during a police briefing on the incident.

As it turned out, the suspect was shot by a female security guard after he had kicked in two sets of glass doors to gain entrance into the lobby. Nobody at the WTTG studio was harmed in the incident and police have determined there is no ongoing threat.

Aside from the unconfirmed report that the intruder had specifically mentioned the president — though no context, either good or bad, surrounding that alleged statement was provided — it remains to be seen exactly what sort of motivation this man had for forcing his way into the news studio.

Rest assured that some in the liberal media will attempt to pin this incident on Trump himself, part of their ridiculous “war against the free press” narrative they insist on pushing against the president who refuses to submit to their negative pressure and has no qualms about calling out hypocritical, blatantly false or purposefully misleading “fake news” from the mainstream media on a near-daily basis.

Do you suspect a political motivation behind this incident?

That seems unlikely to succeed in this particular incident, though, especially if the intruder was ranting in opposition to the president and not attempting to harm media members because of the president’s remarks against the media.

Unless it is determined that the man was mentally ill and picked the building at random, this incident could very well have been spurred on by the increasingly uncivil and violent rhetoric of the left, particularly in regard to the president, his supporters, Republicans in general and members of the conservative-leaning corner of the media.

It is quite possible that this intruder mistook the local Fox affiliate for being part and parcel with the larger Fox News Channel, which has been utterly demonized by the left as nothing short of a propaganda outlet for the purportedly tyrannical authoritarian president.

Indeed, the left has seemingly been working overtime in recent months to amp up and instigate political violence, whether that be through mobs harassing individuals in public spaces or more sinister targeted attacks by deranged individuals lashing out physically against those they perceive to be conservative or Republican or otherwise not in alignment with the progressive left’s agenda.

It has become almost inevitable that someone is going to eventually end up dead or seriously injured if that sort of thing doesn’t stop soon, and that could be almost happened in this incident.

Hopefully this man who attempted to break in to the WTTG studio recovers from his wound, is held accountable for his criminal behavior and ultimately serves as an object lesson to other leftists that efforts to put violent political rhetoric into action carries the very real risk of firearm-applied lead poisoning, which could very well be the only way to convince potentially violent leftists to back off their abject abandonment of civility and normal political discourse over policy disagreements.
