Hathaway Shrieks 'My Country Gassed Children,' But Still Wants Gov't To Decide Who Gets Guns

Many people on the left suffer from a condition known as cognitive dissonance.

For example, leftists insist that President Donald Trump is some sort of authoritarian dictator who must be resisted. Yet those same anti-gun leftists promote strict gun control laws that would restrict citizens’ Second Amendment rights and allow the government to decide who can possess firearms.

So, citizens should be fearful of Trump’s tyrannical government … but should willingly surrender their weapons to that same government? The dissonance couldn’t be more obvious.

Case in point is liberal Hollywood actress Anne Hathaway who recently posted on Instagram to decry the “monstrous use of force” against the mob of illegal immigrants who attempted to storm the U.S. border on Sunday and were turned back by pepper spray balls and tear gas canisters.

Hathaway said, “My country gassed children. There are no words for my horror. To those who will immediately speak of ‘doing it the right way’, who will ‘blame the parents for putting the children in this position’, or say ‘they were storming the wall’, and ‘they were throwing rocks’: the only human response to this monstrous use of force against LEGAL asylum seekers- against children- is condemnation, shame, and rage. For those that still believe in voting for the man who recommended using lethal force on families fleeing violence and persecution: this is the policy you like?”

Set aside for a moment the fact that pepper spray balls and tear gas canisters were used dozens of times by the U.S. Border Patrol — on average more than once per month — throughout the second half of former President Barack Obama’s time in office.

Hathaway accused Trump’s government of “gassing” children and using “lethal force” on innocent families fleeing persecution, which, if true, would indeed constitute a horror the likes of which are only seen committed by brutal dictators like Hitler, Stalin, Mao and Mussolini.

Are tired of the blatant displays of hypocrisy and cognitive dissonance from Hollywood liberals?

If Trump’s government was acting brutally toward innocent people for no reason, why would it follow that everyone in the country should give up their means to protect themselves?

Hathaway has gone on record numerous times to demand strict gun control laws on the American populace — laws that would infringe on the right to keep and bear arms and provide the government with a massive advantage in weaponry over the citizenry.

In June of this year, Hathaway joined other self-righteous anti-gun leftists on Instagram and wore orange in support of gun control. In her post, she decried the children lost to gun violence and demanded “common sense gun laws.”

In the wake of the Parkland school shooting in Florida in February, Hathway posted a meme on Instagram that read: “Guns don’t kill people. Mentally unstable individuals who are legally able to procure firearms because of inadequate mental health screening and background checks kill children.”

In October last year, Hathaway posted a lengthy diatribe against gun violence on Facebook that oozed with self-important sanctimony and demonized the “gun lobby” as not caring about gun violence and suggesting that anyone who rejected her “common sense” solutions “may not be real people.”

So, to recap, Anne Hathaway thinks that too many guns in the hands of civilians are a big problem that the government needs to crack down on, limiting who can possess firearms and what sort of firearms those people are allowed to possess.

Yet, she also believes that the exact same government — which she wants to disarm the bulk of the citizenry — is currently led by an insanely brutal and monstrous dictator.

Those two schools of thought are directly contradictory to each other, yet they somehow manage to equally thrive within the minds of Hathaway and her hypocritical anti-gun liberal ilk. It appears their cognitive dissonance hasn’t occurred to them, and probably never will.
