Hillary Cancels Part of Trip After Developing Another Humiliating Injury

Share

Good thing she wasn’t taking on North Korea at the time.

First, former Democrat presidential candidate Hillary Clinton made headlines this week for slipping twice while making her way down a flight of steps Monday at a palace in India.

Now, it turns out the former first lady and secretary of state had to cancel parts of her scheduled visits in Jodhpur, India, (including a trip to a local fort) because of a fresh new injury — and one likely stemming from her humiliating pratfall at the palace.

According to the U.K. Daily Mail, Clinton has sprained her hand. It wasn’t clear exactly how she got the injury, but since she used the hand as a brace to break her fall on the steps, that’s a pretty good guess.

Clinton top aide Huma Abedin, the estranged wife of the sexting, former New York congressman Anthony Weiner, was right behind her at the time.

Maybe Clinton slipped because the ancient steps really were tough to walk down (though no one else was having a problem.) Maybe it was a little too much post-election chardonnay in the middle of the afternoon.

Whatever it was, it wasn’t a good look for the woman who would have been the leader of the free world.

Do you think America dodged a bullet when Hillary Clinton lost the presidential election?

The slips are just the latest in a long series of incidents that have raised questions about Clinton’s physical health — and whether she was physically up to the job of being president of the United States.

Clinton’s health was repeatedly an issue during the 2016 campaign, including unexplained coughing fits, and apparently needing help navigating flights of stairs. And then there was her infamous utter collapse while leaving a 9/11 memorial in New York City on Sept. 11, 2016.

During the campaign, Democrats accused Clinton critics and Donald Trump supporters of being “sexist” when they raised questions about Clinton’s physical condition, but the incident in India shows how important the issue really was.

If it had been a President Hillary Clinton (God forbid), this video would be much more than just a slightly alarming, but generally harmless image of a well-known woman slipping on some steps. It could well be cause for world tensions to rise, as suspicions grew about the staying power of the United States in any commitments Clinton would undertake.

That’s because no matter who the president is, the United States is engaged in a constant tension with the rest of the world, from major rival powers like China and Russia, to ankle-biting but potentially deadly annoyances like North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un.

Confidence in the country’s leader matters.

The country needs a president who can stand up to the world, and to do that, the president needs to be able to stand up in the first place. (Failing that, the president should at least be able to hide it well, a la FDR.)

A chief executive who takes public falls on the world stage is not exactly projecting the image of strength the United States needs to dissuade troublemakers in Tehran, the Kremlin or Pyongyang from disturbing the global peace.

Since Trump defeated Clinton in November 2016, Democrats have found endless reasons to attack him — whether it’s the fabricated “Russia collusion” story, unrest in his administration, or even accusing White House adviser Kellyanne Conway of violating a federal law for endorsing Republican candidates on national television (and you know CNN loved that one).

But one thing no one has credibly accused Trump of is not having excellent physical health.

In fact, the White House press corps was incredulous when Navy Rear Admiral Dr. Ronny Jackson, the White House physician, went public in January with the news of just how physically fit the president is.

Clinton was never fit for the office of the presidency on moral grounds alone. The video from India shows just how unfit she was for it physically.

The country dodged a big bullet in November 2016. And for that, it can thank Donald J. Trump.
