While Democrat presidential nominee Hillary Clinton may have most of the African-American vote, many black college students say they’re only voting for her out of necessity.
According to The Daily Caller, the students say they distrust Clinton.
The Washington Post asked students from two historically black colleges in the battleground state of North Carolina, St. Augustine’s University and Shaw University, what they thought about Clinton. The response was surprising.

Freshman Anoviua Rush said that while she does not like either candidate, she feels as if she must settle for Clinton.
“I am not a fan of either one, but of the two I will probably be voting for Hillary. She’s just a liar,” Rush said. “And Hillary is not even good at backing up her lies. Everyone makes mistakes, but when you try to cover them up, it’s a problem.”
Likewise, freshman Ayana McAllister said she’s only voting Democrat out of duty, even though she also dislikes Clinton.
“I don’t know. I feel like I’ve got to settle for Hillary. I feel like I’m going to vote because I know I need to, not because I want to,” McAllister said. “I feel like neither of them should be president, but I feel like Hillary will be better. Really, it’s like two children arguing back and forth.”
While President Barack Obama has been campaigning for Clinton, it doesn’t seem to have helped Clinton’s appeal among black voters.
In fact, according to the African American Research Collaborative’s poll, 54 percent of black voters said they were more excited about the 2012 election than the 2016 election.
The numbers speak volumes about what people really think of Hillary Clinton. Even minorities view her promises to them as empty and meaningless. This doesn’t bode well for Clinton when people cast their ballots on Election Day.
