On Aaron Klein Investigative Radio, Babu Omowale, chairman of the New Black Panther Party, denounced Democrat nominee Hillary Clinton as “not the great champion of African-Americans.”
His reasoning behind saying so was a unique perspective — he singled out drug laws from former President Bill Clinton’s administration as evidence of racial injustice in the 1990s and explained that that’s why he would oppose her election in November.
“Hillary Clinton is not the great champion of African-Americans,” he said. “If you look at your history when her husband was president in the ’90s, there were more African-Americans to be locked up in this country than any other time because of some of the laws that he signed into law. Specifically, the drug laws of cocaine.”

When he elaborated, it became clear that, intentional or not, there was a specific grievance here based on the types of illegal drugs used more often by minorities as opposed to white Americans.
“So if a black man has a couple grams of crack versus a white man having a couple of grams of powder cocaine,” Omowale continued, “black men were receiving sentences three and four times longer than that of (their) white counterparts. So we look at these as unjustifiable laws that were implemented up under the Clinton regime.”
“So no,” he concluded the point. “Hillary Clinton would not be a representative of the black community.”

Unfortunately, his alternative was not GOP nominee Donald Trump — it’s just disappointment.
“Nor would Donald Trump be a representative of the black community,” he pointed out. “As far as black people are concerned, we really do not have a representative in this 2016 election year.”
Although his opinion was bleak, his point about the Clinton presidency was sound. Maybe that could be a topic for the next debate?
