Hillary Takes Her Best Shot at Kavanaugh, Trump Responds 'That’s Why She Lost'

Share

You’d think that after one of the most unexpected and humbling political losses in history, Hillary Clinton would just be quiet and work to rebuild her damaged brand.

You’d think wrong.

Many people were stunned after Clinton lost the 2016 general election to Donald Trump. In the immediate aftermath, a visibly shellshocked Clinton was surprisingly gracious in defeat.

That lasted for all of about a day. In the interim, Clinton has been a vocal thorn in the side of the Trump administration.

When she’s not making horribly unfunny cameos on sitcoms, she’s taking incessant potshots at Trump and his actions.

Her latest attempt at launching a salvo happened as she was commenting on the circus-like atmosphere, ironically created entirely by the Democratic Party, surrounding the confirmation of new Supreme Court justice Brett Kavanaugh.

“What was done last night in the White House was a political rally. It further undermined the image and integrity of the court,” Clinton told CNN‘s Christiane Amanpour about Kavanaugh’s ceremonial swearing-in ceremony.

Clinton continued to cite concerns over the entirety of the Kavanaugh confirmation.

“And that troubles me greatly. It saddens me. Because our judicial system has been viewed as one of the main pillars of our constitutional government. So I don’t know how people are going to react to it. I think, given our divides, it will pretty much fall predictably between those who are for and those who are against,” Clinton said.

She then set her sights directly on Trump himself.

“But the president’s been true to form,” Clinton claimed. “He has insulted, attacked, demeaned women throughout the campaign — really for many years leading up to the campaign. And he’s continued to do that inside the White House.”

Considering the fact that Trump has employed countless women, including the first female Border Patrol Chief in American history, Clinton’s criticisms ring a tad hollow.

But Trump doesn’t need me to stick up for him. He’s very clearly capable of doing it himself, as his response to Clinton’s comments show.

“What’s your response to Hillary Clinton saying last night’s swearing-in of Judge Kavanaugh was more a political event than it was a national event?” a reporter asked the president.

“I guess that’s why she lost,” Trump replied without missing a beat. “She doesn’t get it. She never did. I knew that a long time ago.

“Hillary never got it, that’s why she lost.”

Do you think Hillary Clinton will run again in 2020?

Ouch. The harshest insults typically involve some modicum of truth. Trump’s response had a whole lot of truth.

Clinton did lose in 2016. She clearly “doesn’t get” that her resounding electoral loss was America collectively telling her to go kick rocks. And based on her incessant prattling following her loss, it’s also clear she doesn’t have much aptitude for “getting it” in the future.

Look, Trump is not above reproach and he’s not perfect — but American voters knew that when they elected him to the White House.

It’s been refreshing to have a president putting a conservative agenda into practice — and one with a backbone who is unafraid to fire back when provoked.

Can you imagine what Trump will have in store for her if Clinton runs again in 2020?
