Horrific Snake Swims into Booby Trap Inches Before Clamping Jaws Around Live Chicken

Share

If you don’t like snakes, boy, you’re not going to like this video.

But if you didn’t like it, just think what the chickens must have felt.

A viral video purports to show how a massive snake that was apparently snagging some poultry for himself ended up getting caught in a booby trap instead — just inches from a live fowl set up as bait.

The video was posted by Facebook user Jonny Lucas on June 21 with a simple message: “Trying to catch who’s been stealing the chickens…”

The video opens with the image of a muddy pond cordoned off by a simple fence of wood..

At the middle of it was a blue pipe with a chicken at the end of it. And then we all found out who was stealing the chickens.

I get the feeling that Paul Hogan should be narrating this: “Now that’s a snake.”

Somehow, the rather improvised trap works and the anaconda is caught, but not without a struggle. Crazy stuff, and one Facebook users a little nervous — and maybe a little envious.

Are you a fan of snakes?

“Where there’s one, more are out there. Wow,” Luqman Mu’min wrote.

“Never visiting that part of the world,” Teri Stevens said.

Ivan Bonilla may have put it best: “how do i build me one of those.”

A chicken, a pipe, a muddy pond, a tree, some driftwood and a lot — and I mean a lot — of moxie. Or a good camera angle and some creative captioning.

See, as Snopes points out, it’s actually not as big of a snake as it appears. The chicken at the end of the pipe was actually a baby chick and the “logs” that made up the fence were actually a lot smaller than you might expect.

Now, that’s still an awfully big anaconda, and certainly not something I’d want in my backyard. However, it doesn’t look like it would be a candidate for the starring role in a movie with Ice Cube and/or Owen Wilson trying to kill it — like a certain unintentional comedy of 20 years ago.

Given that snakes are neither Republicans nor Christians, I’m pretty sure that generally unreliable Snopes can be trusted on this one, too to a certain extent. The article might have exaggerated what the video makers were trying to achieve, but it also doesn’t even mention President Donald Trump once, either. That’s admirable restraint.

Either way, it’s still a fun video to show someone who’s afraid of snakes.

As for the snake, he probably should have gotten a job and bought his chicken at Popeyes like the rest of us. (Or maybe Boston Market if they’re feeling healthy.) Instead, he decided on a life of crime — and he paid the ultimate price.
