The Islamic State group in Iraq and Syria has once again poked the bear to provoke a response, this time releasing a video purportedly showing them executing a Russian spy.
This latest execution video came as Russia has stepped up its military campaign against the would-be terrorist state in retaliation for the recent bombing of a Russian passenger jet over the Sinai Peninsula in Egypt.
According to CNN, the video featured a Russian-speaking jihadist issuing threats to the Russian people and their president, Vladimir Putin, before purportedly beheading a man they claim was a Russian spy.

The knife-wielding jihadist proclaimed that the Russian airstrikes on Islamic State group positions in Syria have “only made us more certain and more firm.”
Speaking directly to the Russian people, the Islamist executioner declared, “You will not find peace in your homes. We will kill your sons … for each son you killed here. And we will destroy your homes for each home you destroyed here.”
The executed man is alleged by the terrorist group to have attempted to join terrorists’ efforts at expanding the caliphate before it was determined that he was a spy, warranting an execution.

This is just the latest in a series of gruesome videos showing the Islamic State group beheadings of foreign nationals. But this one will likely garner a significant response from Putin, unlike the lackluster efforts put forth by President Barack Obama following the beheading of several Americans by the radical jihadists.
