The Iraqi army has been making some progress in its war against the Islamic State terror group. Progress has been slow, but various Iraqi militias, coupled with U.S. air power, have managed to take back a couple places from the Islamic State terror group.
“You can vote For (kill him or let him go). You have one houer to vote. We will post his fate after one houer.Tag your friends and take your right take your reveng from isis right now. Please we dont have the time just one houer so tag your friends,” the post states.
There is absolutely no way to verify if the fighter (assuming it even was an Islamic State fighter) had been killed because of the vote, or simply because the militia decided they wanted to. There’s also no way to verify if the fighter was even alive when the poll was started.
“Many times this account has taken other photos of ghastly deeds done by militias or possibly by Iraqi government forces and then rebranded them, claiming to run some vote based on comments,” explained Phillip Smyth of the University of Maryland.
“It is very hard to double check and see if they are telling the truth that ‘people voted about how to deal with a prisoner,'” he stated.
"We should do this because ISIS does it" is terrible justification.

These photos also, if accurate, potentially represent war crimes. The laws of war state that combatants, even non-state combatants, who are captured are to be charged and given a trial — not summarily executed based on the whims of the Internet.
