It appears that radical Islamists have struck again in the heart of France, this time in a botched terror attack outside the Louvre museum in Paris.
According to the U.K. Daily Mail, a man bearing a machete and shouting “Allahu akbar!” attacked a group of soldiers after he was barred from entering the massive shopping center underneath the museum.
Though the group initially attempted to fight off and subdue the assailant with their hands, one soldier opened fire on the terrorist after he wounded another soldier with his long-bladed weapon.
The U.K.’s The Telegraph reported that the attacker was identified as a 29-year-old Egyptian man believed to have only recently entered the country, though his name has not yet been officially confirmed.
The jihadist was shot five times in the abdominal area and is still alive, under guard at a nearby hospital. The injured soldier was not seriously harmed and was treated and released.
The Louvre and surrounding area were temporarily placed on lockdown until authorities were able to determine that the attacker had acted alone.
Fox News reported that French officials were treating the attack as exactly what it appeared to be — an act of radical Islamic terror.
The military patrol guarding the entrance was part of the stepped-up security in and around Paris that has been on high alert since the brutal terror attacks in 2015, including the assault on the Charlie Hebdo office in January and the bloody attack at the Bataclan theater in November.
President Donald Trump responded to the attack on Twitter, writing, “A new radical Islamic terrorist has just attacked in Louvre Museum in Paris. Tourists were locked down. France on edge again. GET SMART U.S.”

While not exactly the same, this incident bore some similarities to an attack that occurred Tuesday night outside the Denver Union Station in Colorado and that left a Regional Transportation District security officer dead after being shot in the head at point-blank range.
The Denver Post reported that the suspect was swiftly apprehended and identified as 37-year-old Joshua Cummings, a former U.S. Army sergeant who had of late taken to posting to social media and talking about radical Islam, police oppression and other controversial matters.
Police think the security guard was targeted because of his uniform, which resembled that worn by Denver police officers.
While these two attacks were quite likely unrelated, they could be an indication of an increase in lone-wolf attacks or assaults by small terror cells.
Regardless, these incidents are just another reminder of why people should remain vigilant at all times while out in public, and why some of us choose to carry a sidearm for self-defense (though that doesn’t really fly in Paris), whether against radical Islamic jihadists or just run-of-the-mill street thugs.
Please share this on Facebook and Twitter to spread the word that the radical Islamists are at it again.
