A terrorist attack apparently modeled on December’s Paris attacks by the Islamic State group rocked Jakarta, Indonesia, Thursday morning.
According to the U.K. Daily Mail, a series of coordinated suicide attacks and gun battles left seven dead and many streets in Jakarta mounds of rubble. Five attackers and two civilians — a police officer and a Canadian man — were killed while two jihadis were reportedly taken alive.
There is now video on Twitter which is said to depict the second suicide bomber detonating himself.

Given the fact that there was a five-hour firefight and several explosions, the death toll could have been much higher than just seven. Seventeen people, including a Dutch man, were wounded.
Much of the morning battle was broadcast on local televisions. At least six explosions were carried out and a gunfight ensued in a movie theater.
Jakarta’s police chief told reporters that “ISIS is behind this attack definitely” and named an Indonesian militant called Bahrun Naim as the man responsible for plotting it.
Earlier, the police said the attackers were linked to a terror cell that had been thwarted in the Indonesian city of Surakarta last December. Reportedly, the jihadists behind the Jakarta blasts were in communication with those in Syria.
When one of the militants belongings were searched, local officers found guns, ammunition, bombs and a knife.
Much of the chaos took place near a Starbucks, where a large police force gathered within minutes of a reported threat.
One man with a “mangled hand” was seen struggling to get out of the Starbucks — one of several buildings targeted by at least 14 terrorists.
While the Indonesian police were prowling different buildings, they fatally shot four suspected terrorists.
Our hearts go out to the victims of this tragedy. The Islamic State terror groups aren’t contained and it seems they won’t be anytime soon.
