A video uploaded to the popular video-sharing site YouTube showed a group of Jihadis celebrating out of the back of what looks to be a souped-up SUV.
According to the video, the terrorists were gathered around tailgating and celebrating when they were targeted by a Kornet anti-tank guided missle team.
The Kornet ATGM is a Russian-made missile used for precision ground attacks. This video constituted amazing free marketing for the missile, showing that never misses its target.
The video claimed that there were 20 Hezbollah Shiia fighters killed or injured during the attack, which reportedly took place in Kfir Abeid, Southern Aleppo, on Aug. 9. That’s all we know about the video, which you can watch here:
From the celebration following the successful attack, it seems pretty clear that the ATGM team was itself made up of Muslims, one would assume Sunnis since they were praising Allah for the success of the attack against multiple Shia Muslims
Syria, of course, has been racked with civil war for over fives years, and it can sometimes be difficult to sort out all the factions.
One might assume that, as they were firing a Russian-made weapon, the attackers in this video were not part of a U.S.-backed militia. But, actually, there’s no way to be very sure about that. Weapons, equipment and even personnel have shifted from faction to faction until it has become difficult to identify the players without a scorecard.
Yet another part of President Barack Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s Middle East legacy that they don’t talk much about on the campaign trail
