Joy Reid Tried Baiting Tucker, and It Was a Big Mistake

Share

When MSNBC host Joy Reid, whose rants on race often sound like the radical rhetoric of a black supremacist, recently accused Fox News host Tucker Carlson of being a “white nationalist” over his support for a merit-based immigration system and opposition to illegal immigration, she made a grave error in judgment.

Though some weak-kneed conservatives fear being called racists by grievance mongers like Reid (and Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Barack Obama, etc.), Carlson has never been one of them.

So, instead of apologizing to Reid for offending her with his views, Carlson clapped back with ferocity, blasting her Monday for projecting her own racism onto him.

“(W)hen Joy Reid accuses you of harboring racist thoughts, trust me, it is projection,” he said, according to RealClearPolitics. “But it is also a political tactic. Reid can’t explain why this country needs to import millions more poor people. Nobody on the left can explain that because there is no answer. So they attempt to shut down the conversation with slurs.”

Here’s the kicker: According to new Harvard-Harris poll, a majority of Americans support cutting legal immigration, support basing immigration on merit and even support implementing tougher border security policies, as reported by The Washington Free Beacon.

Now flashback to Saturday morning, when Reid said this about Carlson: “Tucker’s been one of the more aggressive at putting forward what a lot of people have seen as a pretty blatantly white nationalist view of what immigration should be like.”

I guess a majority of Americans — including yours truly, a legal East Indian immigrant turned citizen — are white nationalists as well, given that we appear to see eye-to-eye with Carlson.

Is Joy Reid a racist?

But if only Reid’s stupidity were limited to this. Of course, it’s not. During her segment Saturday morning, she also trotted out some genealogist who performed historical research on Carlson’s family and discovered that one of his ancestors immigrated to the United States in 1860.

“(T)hose in genealogical glass houses should not throw stones,” the genealogist then said.

In others words, “(a) single 19th Century Swiss relative now means you are required to support green cards for everyone who jumps the border or overstays their visa in 2018,” Carlson responded Monday. “Boom! Case closed.”

He was being sarcastic. His point was that the argument being made by Reid and her special little genealogist was just plain dumb.

For the record, even though my own family immigrated to the Unites States decades ago, I staunchly support a reduction in legal immigration, a switch to a merit-based immigration system and an end to all illegal immigration.

Why? Because times have changed since the 1980s — and with welfare rates so high, it’s just not positive for our overall well-being to continue importing an endless number of people, particularly those with no skills to offer us.

This is simple common sense folks, but to Joy Reid it’s “RACISM, RACISM, RACISM.”
