Here's the Killer New 40-Second Ad Trump Released After Mueller Cleared His Name

The Mueller report hasn’t been released in full, but we know the basic details of it — and the biggest news, obviously, is that there’s no evidence of collusion anywhere in it.

According to a letter sent by Attorney General William Barr to members of Congress, Mueller’s probe found no connection between Trump’s campaign and Russian attempts to interfere with the 2016 election, according to the Washington Times.

Needless to say, President Trump had a pretty good weekend on the Twitters:

On that last point, Baier is right — we should all be happy about the fact that the Mueller report apparently found no evidence that the president colluded with a foreign power to influence our elections. That’s a very good thing. Yet, one look at CNN hosts and commentators and you would think they were holding a funeral.

So were top Democrats. In a joint statement, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said that Barr was “not a neutral observer” and demanded the release of the full Mueller report. That’s funny, because that’s what the White House seems to want, too; presidential lawyer Rudy Giuliani told CNN he wanted the whole thing out in the open.

“We would all like it to happen because if it doesn’t happen, somebody is going to say there is something in there,” Giuliani said, according to The Hill.

However, as Democrats are holding their little wake, the White House is demonstrating why they’re so upset in the form of a 40-second advertisement:

Well, that didn’t take long, did it? And talk about owning the Democrats in 40 short seconds. (A quick reminder: Texting “Witchhunt” to the number featured in the advertisement signs you up for pro-Trump text messages, so keep that in mind if you want to keep your inbox clean.)

But it’s entirely true — the collusion hype was based on the fact that they all thought Robert Mueller was making headway on some sort of secret Kremlin conspiracy with the Trump campaign. Everyone thought the way Democrat Sen. Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut did: “The evidence is pretty clear that there was collusion between the Trump campaign and the Russians.”

And there were various permutations of this thought from the usual Democrat figures featured in the advertisement. Rep. Adam Schiff of California, now head of the House Intelligence Committee, has intimated he plans to milk the dead cow that produced the Mueller nothingburger for all its worth, including possibly calling Mueller to testify. He thought there was collusion. He was wrong, too.

Do you think that the Mueller report exonerates President Trump?

Then there was Rep. Jerrold Nadler of New York, who refused to attend the inauguration of the president because he thought Putin had helped elect him: “He was legally elected, but the Russian weighing-in on the election, the Russian attempt to hack the election and, frankly, the FBI’s weighing-in on the election, I think, makes his election illegitimate, puts an asterisk next to his name,” Nadler said back in January 2017, according to the Washington Times.

He believed in the collusion narrative, too. He may have been wrong, but he’s not giving up the ghost yet. He’s one of three committee chairmen who are calling for Attorney General Barr to appear before Congress, according to Fox News.

“We cannot simply rely on what may be a partisan interpretation of facts uncovered during the course of a 22-month review of possible wrongdoing by the President,” he wrote in the joint letter with Schiff and Rep. Elijah Cummings of Maryland. “The American people deserve to see the facts and judge the President’s actions for themselves.”

They soon will, I believe. And if they were people who were somehow hoping the president colluded with a foreign power — an interesting thing to hope, I think — they’ll find that the testimony will be just as disappointing as the synopsis of the Mueller report.
