Leftists Bashed Kavanaugh for Drinking Beer, Are All-Approval as Elizabeth Warren Does the Same

Share

It has been said many times before that, were it not for double standards, the political left would have no standards at all, and that idiom rings especially true these days.

Indeed, one need only compare the disparate reactions of the left to the issue of drinking beer when it comes down to the ideological leanings of the individual who is drinking that beer.

First, let’s take a look at Democratic Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren, who just announced on Monday that she was forming an exploratory committee to study her chances of obtaining the Democratic Party’s 2020 presidential nomination, the first step in a potential run for the White House.

The Daily Caller reported that, following her big announcement, Warren did what all the young leftists are doing these days — a live broadcast on social media from her home’s kitchen while she discussed politics, cooked dinner and drank a beer.

The Instagram video was well received by Warren’s followers and supporters, including a number of “blue check” verified journalists on Twitter, who seemingly heralded her cracking a beer in celebration of the significant step she’d just made in her political career.

Check it out here:

The coverage was the journalistic equivalent of a friendly nod and chuckle of approval, a pat on the back for a buddy who’d had a long day.

It must be noted that virtually none of the Democrat supporters or left-leaning journalists — repetitive, I know — took issue with the absolutely normal act by Warren of cracking open a beer to relax after a busy day.

However, rewind just a few months to the incredibly contentious confirmation hearings for Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, and we find an entirely different outlook on the issue of beer drinking with the left.

Kavanaugh was rather honest during the hearings about his appreciation for the alcoholic beverage, and the left keyed in on his admitted love of beer as an avenue of attack to smear him as a bad person who shouldn’t be confirmed to the court.

NPR documented some of the hubbub over Kavanaugh’s beer consumption, with some of the questions about his drinking habits including queries on whether he had ever been “blackout drunk” from beer or did things he regretted while drunk on beer, such as sexually assault young women.

Kavanaugh had said at one point in his opening statement, “Sometimes I had too many beers. Sometimes others did. I liked beer. I still like beer. But I did not drink beer to the point of blacking out, and I never sexually assaulted anyone.”

There were so many references to beer in the confirmation hearings that USA Today even compiled several of those mentions in a brief video:

The left absolutely excoriated Kavanaugh over his admitted preference for beer, suggesting he is an alcoholic, suggesting it was unnatural for someone to love beer so much, even going so far as to say his penchant for a glass of beer should disqualify him from serving on the high court.

Are you sick and tired of the left's double standards?

But Warren received none of that sort of reaction for her own beer drinking, once again proving the hypocritical double standard that the left lives by — a “rules for thee, but not for me” kind of attitude.

Though not everyone enjoys a cold glass of beer after a long day, the sudsy alcoholic beverage is a staple in American society that is enjoyed by tens, if not hundreds of millions of people living in this country.

It is the height of hypocrisy for the left to attack a prominent figure on one side for drinking beer while giving a free pass to a prominent figure on the other side for the exact same thing.
