Legal Immigrant Silences Behar After She Says Trump Would've Forced Him to Still Be in Italy

“The View” isn’t known for taking it easy on conservative guests who come on the show. So, when a conservative legal immigrant joined the panel, it was the perfect setup for an amazing showdown.

Antonio Sabato Jr. is an Italian and Czech model and actor who came here legally with his parents when he was just 12-years-old. So, make no mistake, this guy is definitely in favor of immigration, as long as it’s done legally. In fact, his sentiments regarding immigration mirror those of President Donald Trump.

In a recent interview, the hosts of “The View,” tried to use that pro-immigration sentiment to trap him.

One of the hosts, Sunny Hostin, made it very clear that she was opposed to Sabato’s immigration position. “Let me ask you another thing that is difficult for me to understand. We’ve talked about your family having to hide their identity during the Holocaust in Czechoslovakia, and we’ve talked about the fact that you came here at 12-years-old from Italy speaking no English, and this country embraced you,” she began.

“You call yourself an immigrant, but you’re in favor of the wall being built, being paid for by the American people and keeping other immigrants out of the country much like yourself,” she added.

He replied, “The way I see it, I want the American people to be taken care of first. I don’t want the American people to take care of everybody else’s problem.” (Note that despite “The View’s” likely very liberal audience, there was loud applause for his sentiments.)

At this, host Joy Behar jumped in. She suggested that if that were the case — which, by the way, is Trump’s policy — Sabato’s family would have never been allowed to come here.

“If they felt that way when your family was coming over here you would still be in Italy,” she said.

Do we have an illegal immigration problem in this country?

Sabato explained that his family saved money and waited in line to get here, just like so many other potential immigrants.

Behar didn’t know what to say after that except, “Yeah.”

Sabato continued talking about immigration, saying that we need to reform immigration policies and protect our borders. Behar, however, objected and said that people aren’t crossing the border, they are flying in.

Sabato didn’t fall for it.

“We are arresting, at the border, 1,000 people every single day, and there’s probably a lot more coming in… We need to protect our border,” he said.

He then put the final nail in the coffin, saying, “We spend one hundred billion dollars in immigration every year. The total wall will cost only 20 billion, so we will save a lot of money.”

And with that, Behar was done.

Sabato is absolutely right. The wall needs to be built, and in the long run, it’s not only going to save American lives, it’s going to save the American taxpayers money.

Our hats are off to you, Mr. Sabato, for standing up for conservative policy on “The View.” We know that’s never an easy task.
