Letterman Tries Badmouthing Trump Fans in Front of Kanye West, Rapper Reportedly Gives Him a Reality Check

Share

Rapper Kanye West defended his support for President Donald Trump in an interview with comedian David Letterman, reportedly telling the talk show host that “liberals bully people” who support the president.

The episode of “My Next Guest Needs No Introduction” in which Letterman interviews West will be released May 31 on Netflix.

The Daily Beast, which has already seen the exchange, described it as “one of the best interviews Letterman has ever conducted.”

The interview covered a variety of topics, including the #MeToo movement, which is what prompted West’s comments about Trump, according to the outlet.

West reportedly said he wears a “Make America Great Again” hat in order “to break the stigma around showing support for Trump,” The Daily Beast claimed.

“Did you vote for Trump?” Letterman asked.

“I’ve never voted in my life,” West replied.

“Then you don’t have a say in this,” Letterman said.

But West shot back later in the interview after Letterman pressed him to criticize Republicans for alleged “voter suppression” in the 2018 midterms.

Should more pro-Trump celebrities speak out?

“So if I see a person that I admire talking about Donald Trump can think whatever he does,” Letterman said, “I wonder if those thoughts, indirectly, aren’t hurting people who are already being hurt.”

West responded that Trump supporters are “treated like enemies of America because that’s what they felt.”

“Have you ever been beat up in your high school for wearing the wrong hat?” West asked. His remark came “after Letterman [made] his forceful case against the idea that Trump is some sort of savior to those who voted for him,” according to The Daily Beast.

“Liberals bully people who are Trump supporters,” West added.

The episode has yet to air, but a trailer for the second season of Letterman’s show can be seen below:

Letterman, of course, should have expected that West wouldn’t let him get away with demeaning Trump or his supporters.

After all, West knows firsthand what it’s like to be bullied by liberals for wearing a hat.

In October, TMZ founder Harvey Levin asked West to take his “Make America Great Again” hat off during an interview.

“I would love it, Kanye, if you would not wear that hat,” Levin said. “It would make me and a lot of other people feel better.”

“As an American, I support our president,” West shot back.

West also slammed liberals for bullying black men in an unaired “Saturday Night Live” segment last year.

“Black man in America, you’re supposed to keep what you feel inside right now. And the liberals bully you and tell you what you can and cannot wear,” West said.

But despite the bullying, the boycott attempts and pressure from friends and family, West is still defending Trump supporters.

West might not be the most articulate political commentator, but he deserves credit for being one of the only celebrities willing to stand up to the liberal elites.
