A father who had been living in Los Angeles illegally was arrested Thursday by Immigration and Customs Enforcement aagewnts Friday as he took his daughters to school.
Romulo Avelica-Gonzalez, 48, was arrested while his 13-year-old daughter recorded the incident on her phone. She could be heard crying as ICE agents took her father away.

ICE said in a statement that Avelica-Gonzalez “was targeted for arrest because relevant databases indicate he has multiple prior criminal convictions, including a DUI in 2009, as well an outstanding order of removal dating back to 2014.”
CBS LA reported that activists are working to convince immigration authorities to allow Avelica-Gonzalez to stay in the country.
Of course, they are but it might not do them any good.

Watch coverage of the incident below:
There’s no doubt that this is a difficult time for the family but it’s also a good time to point out that if laws were obeyed, these kinds of situations wouldn’t occur. This man had been in the country for 20 years and he could have worked to become a legal citizen at any time. It’s not anyone’s fault but his own that he didn’t choose to do so.
It’s certainly not the fault of ICE agents or President Donald Trump that Avelica-Gonzalez came to the country illegally and then chose to break the law.
However, the left will no doubt use this incident to blame Trump for splitting apart families and creating a culture of fear among immigrants.

If people are in the country illegally and choose break the law, maybe they should be afraid.
Trump is simply doing what he said he would do and cracking down on illegal immigration. And it would appear that he isn’t messing around.
