A nearly 6-year-old picture of Donald Trump Jr. has been making the rounds on social media lately, and it has the anti-hunting and Trump-hating liberals utterly enraged.
The photo of Trump Jr. holding an elephant’s tail and a bloody knife first surfaced in a 2012 TMZ “expose” on the supposedly ruthless and bloodthirsty Trump sons, highlighting the kills they had made while on an African safari in 2011.
But if those who were enraged by the picture had actually taken the time to check out the backstory and meaning of what had happened, they probably wouldn’t be so upset (though some would undoubtedly still hate the Trump sons, regardless).

Forbes took the time to look into the story behind the elephant tail picture, unlike TMZ, and actually interviewed Trump Jr. for his explanation of the controversial photo. Here is what they learned:
“Donald Jr. told me that TMZ didn’t report that Africans traditionally cut off the tail and make bracelets from the tail hair. TMZ didn’t seem to know — again, because they didn’t do any reporting — that Africans do this as a sign of respect for the fallen animal,” wrote journalist Frank Miniter.
“And they didn’t report that elephants are over-populated in the area the Trumps hunted and so need to be hunted to prevent them from further destroying their habitat,” he continued. “They didn’t mention that when elephants overpopulate, they literally rip down the forest.”

“They didn’t note — and any conservation group could have told them this — the result of an overpopulated elephant herd is death by starvation and disease,” added Miniter. “Nor did they did contact the Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority to find out that hunting is managed scientifically to benefit all species and the ecosystem.”
Also unmentioned was the fact that the bulk of the meat from the slain animals is typically donated to local villagers to supplement their often-meager diets, or that the millions of dollars in revenue brought in from professional sport hunting is the lifeblood of many of those same communities.
As to the notion perpetuated by the angry liberals that Trump Jr. was just a “bloodthirsty moron” who cared nothing about protecting animals or the environment, Trump Jr. set them straight by revealing how hunting actually turned him into a planet-protecting conservationist.
“Anyone who thinks hunters are just ‘bloodthirsty morons’ hasn’t looked into hunting,” Trump Jr. told Forbes. “If you wait through long, cold hours in the November woods with a bow in your hands hoping a buck will show, or if you spend days walking in the African bush trailing Cape buffalo while listening to lions roar, you’re sure to learn hunting isn’t about killing.
“Nature actually humbles you,” he added. “Hunting forces a person to endure, to master themselves, even to truly get to know the wild environment. Actually, along the way, hunting and fishing makes you fall in love with the natural world. This is why hunters so often give back by contributing to conservation.”
But since most anti-hunting and anti-Trump liberals never take the time to track down and research the facts about a subject before becoming outraged, they’d never know any of this.
If they did do some research, and had a little intellectual honesty, they would be praising Trump Jr. for his contribution to the health and well-being of the African people and their amazing exotic animals and beautiful landscapes
