Lifelong Dem. Ditches Party, Gun Grabbers After Horrifying San Francisco Encounter

Share

Reality has a way of throwing a wrench in leftist narratives. That’s what one former anti-gun liberal found out after he was the victim of a mugging, and realized that the NRA was not the evil organization it had been portrayed to be.

Ryan Moore described himself as a “life-long Democrat” during a recent appearance on “Cam and Company,” a pro-gun video series. His left-leaning views went so far that he wanted the Second Amendment completely repealed, and believed that “the NRA must be stopped.”

What caused an opponent of lawful gun ownership to do a complete reversal of his opinion? He came face to face with armed criminals in the liberal paradise of San Francisco, and realized that he needed to be able to defend himself and his home.

“I was mugged at gunpoint,” Moore told Cam Edwards on NRATV. “Two guys ran… one guy immediately got in front of me, and one guy behind me… they had a gun in my face and a gun behind my head.”

California has strict gun control, and San Francisco is one of the most liberal and anti-gun cities in the country. That did nothing to actually stop criminals.

The West Coast citizen didn’t instantly become a Second Amendment supporter, but being the victim of a crime sent him down the path of re-evaluating his views.

“That mugging along with being a homeowner really brought me around and got me to decide to purchase a gun,” Moore explained.

After moving from California to slightly less liberal Washington state, Ryan Moore stepped into a gun store for the first time in his life. Despite the mainstream media’s portrayal of “gun people” as angry or unhinged knuckle-draggers, Moore found everyone in the store to be friendly and helpful.

Has the media wrongly demonized the NRA and gun owners?

He started talking to gun owning family members and realized that just like his misconceptions about the gun store, he had believed false narratives about the NRA. He bought his first gun and found practicing at the range a positive experience.

“It took me a few more months to say, ‘I’m a conservative. I’m a Republican. I support the president,’” Moore explained, despite begrudgingly admitting that he voted for Hillary Clinton.

Now, not that long after the election, the vitriol from the left has made him more conservative… and even a life member of the NRA.

“People need to respect each others’ views and have an actual dialogue instead of insulting each other and calling each other a terrorist or a racist because you don’t agree,” he pointed out.

That, in a nutshell, is what much of the media and the left does not realize: By trying to pretend that law-abiding gun owners or NRA members are horrible people and responsible for every crime, the establishment narrative is actually pushing many smart people like Ryan Moore toward conservatism.

When people actually witness crime in the liberal enclave of California or talk to responsible, conscientious gun owners across the country, they find out that they believed a lie. Reality is a very persistent voice.

There is plenty of room for Americans to disagree about specific gun laws, or to debate the proper role of the Second Amendment. But that disagreement should be done civilly, calmly, based on facts and logic instead of blind emotion.

The left seems to have bet everything on grandstanding, and wants to paint every retiree with a shotgun or responsible American with a concealed handgun permit as some sort of radical.

They’ve made the NRA a scapegoat, and in the hysteria are driving away even one-time Clinton voters like Ryan Moore.

For every new gun owner who shares their story on a show like “Cam and Company,” there are dozens more who have quietly decided that the left no longer speaks for them… and that “silent majority” may have a lot to say in upcoming elections.
