The Lord's Prayer Somehow Stops Bullet That Flew Into Woman's House
In what can only be described as an act of God, a framed copy of the Lord’s Prayer stopped a bullet that flew into a 70-year-old woman’s house in Kansas City, Kansas.
The 70-year-old woman, Constance Effie, was having a relaxing evening with her husband when her house suddenly turned into what seemed like a “war zone.”
“All of a sudden ‘boom.’ I thought I was in a war zone because that was the loudest noise I ever heard,” Effie told WDAF-TV on Tuesday.
“I thought maybe our TV blew up,” she said.
But the noise wasn’t a bomb — a bullet had penetrated the side of her house.
“We looked all around and didn’t see a hole anywhere, and I thought, ‘Look, that picture, the glass is all broken,'” she said.
Astonishingly, a framed picture that was hanging just 2 feet above the 70-year-old woman managed to stop the bullet.
“It hit (the picture) and fell down behind (the couch). But if it didn’t have the metal, it probably would’ve came on in and hit one of us,” Effie said.
The framed picture — which potentially spared Effie and her husband’s lives — was the Lord’s Prayer:
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
“It just means He is looking out after us,” Effie said.
This faithful woman is certainly right that God is looking after them — Effie and her husband were unharmed, but she visited the hospital the next morning after a stressful, sleepless night.
“I was afraid. I kept thinking I don’t want any more shooting,” she said.
After visiting the hospital, the doctors said that Effie had a “stress heart attack but that it was a small one.”
Gunshots aren’t uncommon where Effie lives. There is a bullet-riddled stop sign just down the street from Effie’s home, but she hopes the shooters will stop after her stressful incident.
“We’re lucky to be alive, and we’re happy,” Effie said. “We just hope and pray they understand not to do this anymore.”
It’s amazing that Effie wasn’t hurt, and that it was a framed picture of the Lord’s Prayer which potentially saved herself, her husband and their property.
It’s true that God can work in mysterious ways.
