Man Allegedly Takes Swing at Police Officer, His Mugshot Proves Why That's a Bad Idea

Share

An Illinois man is going viral — and not in a good way — after he decided to take a drunken swing at a police officer in Memphis, Tennessee.

His mugshot tells the sorry tale of what happened next.

According to a police report, Joseph Pszczola was out on Memphis‘ famed Beale St. Wednesday night at the Blues City Cafe.

WHBQ-TV reports that Pszczola was “ranting and raving” inside the bar at roughly 10:30 p.m. Employees flagged down police officers on the street for help.

When officers entered the bar and asked Pszczola to leave, he instead continued to rant and rave.

One of the officers said Pszczola smelled of booze and was slurring his words.

The confrontation eventually made its way out onto the sidewalk. Pszczola continued harassing police, pushing one before attempting to punch him.

This was the very, very unfortunate result (for Pszczola, anyhow):

According to WHBQ, what happened next is that the officer took it upon himself to strike Pszczola in the face, causing him to fall to the ground.

Both the officer and Pszczola were brought to local hospitals. Both are also expected to be fine, although I’m guessing the officer is more “fine” than Pszczola is.

To add to this ignominy, Pszczola is also being charged with misdemeanor assault, disorderly conduct, and public intoxication.

Let this mugshot be a lesson to everyone. Trying to punch a police officer doesn’t end well. And beyond the physical injury, there’s the fact that you’re going to end up as a viral punchline (pun intended).

To be clear, police brutality is never okay. Just don’t be like Joseph Pszczola, people. Know when to say when. If the police tell you to leave, leave. And for Pete’s sake, don’t try to injure them.
