Man Chases Woman into Wrong Building, Instantly Regrets It After Seeing Who's Inside

Thursday was just not this North Carolina man’s day.

According to The Hill, he made a whole series of poor choices that set him up for what can only be called a well-deserved disaster.

WSOCTV reported Saturday that August Williams, 46, was on drugs that day in north Charlotte. That was mistake No. 1.

Williams had previously been arrested for drugs and assault, according to WSOC. So not learning from that is yet another mistake he made that fateful day.

He then allegedly attempted to kidnap a woman. That would be his third mistake and, with his first two, led to the worst mistake of all.

When his victim fled, Williams gave chase, and pursued her into the building where she sought safety, according to WSOCTV. Whether by luck or quick thinking, she picked an ideal spot to seek help: The Bushiken Karate Charlotte Dojo.

Maybe Williams didn’t notice what the building was. Maybe it was the last thing he’d expected.

Regardless, it was a very bad choice.

Randall Ephraim, the dojo’s sensei — or teacher — explained to CNN what happened next.

“There were still some kids in the dojo being picked up by parents and a couple of adult students cleaning up when a young lady came through our doors and stated that someone was trying to harm her. Shortly afterward, a big male entered the building,” Ephraim said.

“Not knowing what he wanted, I assumed he was inquiring about classes. I asked how I could assist him and he stated that he was there for the lady.

“She insisted that she did not know him and tried to kidnap her.”

Ephraim told WIlliams to leave, but was ignored.

“He then tried to force himself further into the dojo, aggressively pushing and swinging. I then went into action defending myself and got him out of the dojo.”

“Once outside, he attempted to attack again and was dealt with accordingly.”

Ephraim picked up the rest of the story with WSCOTV, saying that once outside, Williams continued to behave violently.

Does Ephraim deserve a reward for handling this situation so well?

“He was just punching at everything from walls to cars, everything,” Ephraim said.

Before police arrived, Ephraim had managed to restrain Williams.

But doing so had not been easy for Ephraim, even with his skill set.

“He was very strong – very, very strong,” Ephraim told WSCOTV.

“He weighed at least 200 (pounds) and some change, under the influence — very strong powerful individual.”

The police were pretty impressed with how the fleeing woman was given aid.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department Capt. J.D. Thomas pointed out the things that led up to the woman having a much better day — as things turned out — than Williams did.

“It’s a great thing the people in there were able to help defend her, extremely lucky that it was a karate studio and usually you don’t see a suspect act like this.”

CNN wrote that Williams also fought with police. He was hospitalized with injuries.

At any point in his day, he could have made a choice that would have completely changed things.

Now he is injured and potentially facing prison a prison stretch. He should have plenty of time to think about his choices then.
