Man Forgets Golden Rule of Bulls... Twice

Share

The golden rule of bullfighting is simple: Never take your eyes off the bulls. But why does this rule exist, and why is it so “golden?”

The answer is just as simple: Because if you take your eyes off the bulls, chances are you’re going to get plowed into like a wide receiver near the goal line.

Unfortunately for one man who recently participated in a bullfighting competition in Costa Rica, as reported by the U.K. Daily Mail, he had to learn this lesson the hard way.

And not just once — but twice. Watch below, though be warned that it contains graphic footage some might find difficult to watch:

At the start of the video, the unnamed man can be seen closely watching one bull (good!) … but ignoring the other one (bad!).

The second bull winds up sneaking behind him and then plowing into his poor buttocks with the ferocity of a lion, causing the man to fly into the air and crash to the ground.

Ouch!

The man then cowers on the ground, trying to cover his head with his hands, as three other participants rush over to help him help him back up.

He then tries to flee the ring while keeping his eye out on the bull that just hit him (good!) … but ignoring the other one (bad!).

You’d think he’d have learned his lesson already, but apparently he didn’t.

What happens is predictable: The bull he isn’t watching plows him into from the front, hurling him into the air.

Though it remains unclear where and when exactly this happened, a Costa Rican TV network reportedly posted the clip of it to its Facebook page last Wednesday.

By the following week, that video had gone viral, appearing countless times on Facebook, on Twitter and on YouTube.

We still have no clue who the guy who got gored twice is, or how he’s doing, though we’re glad the video has gone viral.

Besides making him famous (not necessarily in a good way), the video has helped reinforce the golden rule of bullfighting to the whole world.

Remember, never take your eyes off the bulls!
