Man Walks in, Pulls Gun. Security Cam Catches Exact Moment His Plan Fell Apart
So cool. So casual as he strolls past the E-Cig of Denver in Aurora, Colorado. He looks inside then stands at the corner.
It appears that he then tries to sneak a peak inside, partially covered by the plant in the corner, before casually strolling to the front door. After the man, wearing a hat and sunglasses, enters, his casual demeanor is quickly replaced by an attempt to rob the store.
As seen on surveillance video, publicly shared by the Aurora Colorado Police Department, his attempt at a smooth withdrawal of his gun turns into a comedy of errors. The gun flies out of his hand and across the counter, toward the clerk who approached him.
As he struggles to climb over the counter to retrieve the weapon, the clerk gets to it first. According to The Denver Post, she “picked up the gun and held it like a club.”
She can then be seen approaching the man again, this time with the gun in her hand. The would-be-robber quickly retreats, running for the door.
Then for some reason — perhaps to keep him pants from falling down — he does an odd jump at the doors, luckily not going through them as he attempts to exit the store. But alas, his faux ninja move caused his pants to drop.
He then has to fumble with his pants as he tries to run out of the building. He crosses the parking lot, never looking back.
Meanwhile, the clerk locks the front door, at first with gun in hand. She then places it on the counter and returns to the front door to finish securing it. She then places a call, presumably to the police.
Store owner Chris Burgess shared his thoughts on the man, according to The Denver Post. “I don’t want to downplay the seriousness of an armed robbery, but the guy really does belong in the ‘world’s dumbest criminals.’ He needs to find a new career.”
Burgess also credits his employee for her actions. “‘Our policy is give them whatever they want,’ said Burgess, referring to armed robbers. But in this case, the clerk reacted appropriately.”
Some have mentioned on social media that the man was lucky he didn’t shoot himself or anyone else with his gun fumble. However, the police had some good news to report in their Facebook post with the video.
It wasn’t a “real” gun. It was a “BB gun, with the orange tip removed.”
Police are asking for help in identifying the suspect. He is described as “a white male who was wearing a red hat, a blue Denver Broncos sweatshirt with an orange “D” on the front, black pants, sunglasses, orange gloves and white shoes.”
The police note in their Facebook post that a reward is being offered. In addition, tips can be given anonymously.
“Anyone with information on this case is asked to call Detective Hefty at 303.739.6947 or tipsters can call Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720.913.7867. By using Crime Stoppers, tipsters can remain anonymous and be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000.”
The unidentified man wore a hat and sunglasses to hide his identity. But he has gained some social media notoriety anyway, due to his failed attempt at robbery, which may become a meme, mocking him and other would-be robbers.
