A Florida mother put up a heroic fight when a man attempted to kidnap her daughter while they were shopping Tuesday morning.
The dramatic scene was caught on surveillance video at a Dollar General store 80 miles outside Orlando, and it showed how Craig Bonelli, 30, took note of the 13-year-old girl while she was shopping with her mom. Moments later, he grabbed the girl and began to drag her across the floor.
Her mother’s instinct kicked in and she chased after Bonelli, who finally let go of the girl and ran into the store’s parking lot where he was no doubt hoping to speed away. However, an off-duty police officer happened to be getting out of his car at that moment and heard the store manager’s yell for help.
Citrus County Sheriff’s Deputy Jonathan Behnen quickly got back into his car and prevented Bonelli from leaving the parking lot.
Once he had him trapped, he ordered Bonelli to exit his car and placed him under arrest.
Talk about perfect timing.

Bonelli obviously didn’t expect the mother to put up a fight — good thinking, that — and you can bet he didn’t expect to run into a police officer as he fled the scene.
“In my 10 years on the road I have never seen anything like this,” Sgt. Craig Callahan told ABC News. “He truly intended to abduct this child right in front of everyone in the store.”
Citrus County Sheriff’s Capt. Ricky Grant applauded the mother and the officer for their quick actions, which no doubt saved the girl.
It’s good to see this mom step in and give this thug a fight. He might have thought a single mom and her teenage daughter were the perfect victims, but he thought wrong.
