Marc Short Is All Smiles After Blasting MSNBC on Air for Being Fake News

Share

In the grand scheme of things, Marc Short might not be a household name yet, but in the Trump White House battles with the media, he might be well on his way to getting there.

Officially, Short is the current White House director of legislative affairs, as well as filling the formal post of assistant to President Donald Trump. A bit more importantly, though, Short is one of those everyday héros du moment who remind us all that there really are some folks still around who have the guts to call a spade a spade.

Especially when it comes to telling the anti-Trump establishment media that they’ve just been hoisted on their own petard.

As reported by Amber Athey of The Daily Caller, Short had a one-on-one live on the air with MSNBC anchor Hallie Jackson this week. And what a wonderful lil’ interview it was.

As Athey noted, during the course of the interview Jackson had quite the habit of playing fast and loose with her alleged reporting of factual information.

Also during the rather brief interview, it was plainly obvious that Short had little patience for Jackson’s equally obvious ability to dodge, duck, dip, dive and dodge around any semblance of legitimate journalism.

Between Short calling out Jackson with a few truth bombs of his own, one may also have gotten the impression that his confident-without-being-condescending smile managed to literally make the anchorette squirm in her chair.

According to The Daily Caller, “White House director of legislative affairs Marc Short took shots at MSNBC during an interview with Hallie Jackson, informing her that MSNBC’s reporting on the president ‘isn’t accurate.’ Short explained that people are concerned about potential bias in the FBI, and cited former deputy director Andrew McCabe’s wife receiving sizable political donations from Clinton allies.”

And there’s a good reason for that.

Do you think Marc Short won this exchange?

“I think there is a lot of concern about the person leading the investigation, whose wife was receiving $700,000 in political donations from the Clinton’s closest friends,” Short said, according to The Daily Caller. “I think those are concerns that people have.”

Factually correct. The Daily Caller previously noted that McCabe’s wife, Dr. Jill McCabe, received a whopping $675,000 from a Democrat-friendly political action committees linked to longtime Clinton ally, Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe, while she ran for a Virginia state Senate seat. The donation was in vain, though, since it was a contest she lost despite the massive influx of cash.

As the New York Post noted on Monday, Trump “pumped up the pressure” on McCabe over those donations in Twitter postings in December.

“How can FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, the man in charge, along with leakin’ James Comey, of the Phony Hillary Clinton investigation (including her 33,000 illegally deleted emails) be given $700,000 for wife’s campaign by Clinton Puppets during investigation?” Trump wrote in a Dec. 23 tweet.

Meanwhile, back at MSNBC, Short noted that there just might be a bit of a conflict of interest or whiff of scandal if McCabe was supposed to be impartially investigating Hillary Clinton while simultaneously, his wife was receiving nearly three-quarters of a million dollars from a source with undeniable pro-Clinton feelings.

Jackson kicked in a none-too-subtle wide-eyed schoolgirl persona while she innocently asked, “So career officials can’t marry Democrats if they want to serve a Republican president?” Short snapped back with, “Hallie, don’t be absurd. That’s not what I’m saying.”

Suffice it to say, it was there that the wheels started to fall off for Jackson.

So she employed the tried-and-true liberal tactic of changing the topic.

“Should the president call her a ‘loser’?” she asked. “Our reporting is, as you know, that the president called up Andrew McCabe, was very upset about James Comey getting that plane ride back from California after he got fired, and suggested he ask his wife how it feels to be a loser is that appropriate?”

Short didn’t miss a beat with his comeback, “This may be a surprise to you but sometimes your reporting isn’t accurate. I’m not aware of the president referring to her as a loser.”

Nonetheless, she persisted. Jackson continued to argue that her network had three different reports that President Trump did refer to Dr. McCabe as a “loser,” to which Short smilingly stated, “Well, that’s great.””
