The “fight for 15” turned very literal at one South Carolina McDonald’s, where two employees were caught on camera brawling over who would put the apple pies in the oven.
According to the U.K. Mirror, the whole thing was caught on video at a golden arches joint in Chester County, South Carolina, by a man who was just waiting to get a chicken sandwich with his girlfriend. Customer Noah Smith was in the restaurant Wednesday night when the incident occurred, and decided to film it with his cellphone.
“I’m thinking, ‘Oh man, something’s about to really happen right now,'” Smith said.
And happen it did. Apparently, a 30-year-old employee told a 25-year-old employee to put the McDonald’s apple pies in the oven. The 25-year-old then told the older employee that she wasn’t going to.
I am not, as a matter of fact, “lovin’ it.”
Look, I don’t want to touch a McDonald’s apple pie, either, inasmuch as I’m pretty sure the crust is made from radioactive lard and quick-drying cement. However, that being said, it’s not my job.
In all fairness, he older employee decided at first to de-escalate the situation, telling the other employee she could go home and that her shift would be covered.
The 25-year-old employee said she wasn’t having it, though, and things turned pretty “Maury” pretty quickly.
Take a look. (WARNING: Although I really can’t understand a single word these two incomprehensible, violent idiots are saying, I’m pretty sure there’s probably some graphic language in here somewhere.)
Now that’s definitely worth being paid $15 an hour!
It’s worth pointing out that slapping and hair-pulling was probably a lot more effort than putting the stupid apple pies in the oven. In addition, if the woman would have done that, she would a) still have a job and b) wouldn’t have to pay for a lawyer.
As microeconomic decisions go, this seems to have been a poor one.
Neither employee was seriously injured. Police say they’re still investigating, which, um, OK. Here’s your investigation: Watch the video. Arrest the employee(s). There you go.
“We take the care and safety of our employees very seriously and have zero tolerance for violence,” a McDonald’s spokesman said. “At this time, we are cooperating fully with the police during their investigation into this matter.”
As of this writing, we could not confirm who eventually put the apple pies in the oven.
