Medal of Honor Recipient Slights Obama, Praises Trump's Capture of 5 ISIS Leaders

Share

Barack Obama fans have to hate this.

While the capture of five top Islamic State group terrorists by a joint American-Iraqi intelligence operation announced Wednesday was all but ignored by mainstream broadcast outlets, one of the country’s best known-Medal of Honor recipients wasn’t quiet about it at all.

And his take was a direct hit on one of the Obama presidency’s most embarrassing moments.

In an interview with Fox News on Friday morning, Dakota Mayer, awarded the Medal of Honor for his actions as a Marine Corps corporal in combat in Afghanistan in 2009, drew a comparison between the Obama years and President Donald Trump’s handling of the war on terrorism.

He particularly cited Obama’s decision to release five top Taliban figures from the prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, in exchange for American Army deserter Bowe Bergdahl.

And his takedown was perfect. American forces fighting the war on terror know they have a commander in chief in Trump who won’t let them down just to be politically correct, he said.

“With the capture of these five ISIS guys, we have confidence they’re not going to get traded back for a traitor, right?” Meyer said. “The confidence level of this guy … You look at what he’s putting and doing in Syria, right? He’s doing what he’s saying he’s going to do.

Do you think this capture of terrorist leaders will lead to even bigger wins ahead?

“I think for us, as war fighters, it gives us the confidence that what we’re doing, if nothing else, it means something. And we have someone who’s backing us up, no matter what.”

Meyer’s criticisms of the media were dead on.

Even the anti-Trump New York Times reported that the capture of the five terrorist leaders announced this week, capping a three-month operation, was a “significant intelligence victory for the American-led coalition fighting the extremist group and underscores the strengthening relationship between Washington and Baghdad.”

But it was ignored by two of the three big broadcast television news networks (and it’s only a matter of time until The Times finds something to complain about over it).

Meanwhile, the president has at least brought the maniacal North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un to the point where a summit between Trump and Kim is scheduled for June 12 in Singapore.

And talk of a Nobel Peace Prize for the president is being taken seriously. (It had to kill The New York Times to publish a story like that.)

Obama, on the other hand, is remembered as the president who was awarded a Nobel Peace Prize a scant nine months after taking office — and having done literally nothing to have earned it.

He’s also remembered as the commander in chief who released five top terrorist leaders in exchange for one Army deserter who was and is considered a traitor by millions of Americans.

Liberals in the media can keep carping, but Americans who aren’t blinded by partisan distaste for Trump can see very well what the man is accomplishing in the face of staggering opposition.

And Obama fans have to hate it.
