Media Whips Itself into 'Impeachment' Frenzy Before Mueller Pops the Balloon

Share

Left-wing media talking heads were salivating at the possibility of impeachment proceedings against President Donald Trump before special counsel Robert Mueller set them straight.

On Thursday evening BuzzFeed News released a new hit piece alleging that Trump had directed his former personal attorney Michael Cohen to lie to Congress.

“President Donald Trump directed his longtime attorney Michael Cohen to lie to Congress about negotiations to build a Trump Tower in Moscow, according to two federal law enforcement officials involved in an investigation of the matter,” the piece said.

The establishment media didn’t hesitate to jump on the now-disputed piece. This was their opportunity to get rid of their worst enemy.

In fact, CNN mentioned words relating to “impeachment” 82 times and MSNBC mentioned impeachment 92 times regarding the disputed piece, according to The Daily Caller.

Media pundits openly pondered if BuzzFeed’s dubious report was grounds for impeachment, bringing on a slew of left-wing guests and politicians to talk about possible impeachment proceedings.

For example, CNN host Wolf Blitzer brought on Democratic Rep. John Garamendi to discuss impeachment.

“If Mueller has evidence confirming BuzzFeed’s report, would you and House Democrats begin impeachment proceedings?” Blitzer asked.

“Let me start with those two words, if true, the answer to your question is, yes. There would be impeachment proceedings,” Garamendi responded.

CNN host Erin Burnett brought on a Democratic Rep. Val Demings, to discuss a possible impeachment.

“If the president of the United States directed his personal attorney to lie under oath, I do believe that rises to the level of impeachment,” Demings said.

Now, these left-wing partisans can sit in their foolishness for immediately believing this unverified report, because Mueller’s team has dubbed it inaccurate.

“BuzzFeed’s description of specific statements to the Special Counsel’s Office, and characterization of documents and testimony obtained by this office, regarding Michael Cohen’s Congressional testimony are not accurate,” according to a statement from Mueller’s spokesman, Peter Carr.

It’s incredibly rare for the special counsel to make comments about rumors in the media. If Mueller was only disputing minor details, it’s doubtful he would have commented at all.

Of course, the media is not ashamed of its blatant anti-Trump bias, even when it relied on unverified reports.

The establishment media desperately wants to get rid of Trump, and it’s prepared to use any opportunity to push for his impeachment.
