Melania Reveals How She Trolls 'Left-Wing Media' with Wardrobe Choices

Share

Melania Trump knows a few things about the power of image. After all, she was a successful model before she ended up in Trump Tower and then the White House — and the left tends to consistently underestimate her savvy.

They also underestimate her intelligence. It’s easy to dismiss the fashionable first lady as all looks and no brains, but she’s a seriously smart Slovenian cookie who speaks multiple languages.

Her use of language, however, also earned scorn last summer. After a jacket with an edgy message was spotted being worn by the first lady as she flew to visit a border detention center, the media accused Trump of being cold-hearted.

But she may have the last laugh. In a recent interview with ABC News reporter Tom Llamas, Trump revealed that she was “trolling” the left-leaning media and delivering a message directly to them.

Melania Trump’s comments appear at around 5:13 in this video.

“Let’s talk about the jacket,” Llamas said. “Why did you wear it?”

The olive green jacket famously had “I Really Don’t Care, Do U?” scrawled on the back in white letters.

“You know I often [ask] myself, ‘If I (did) not wear that jacket, (would I) have so much media coverage?’” Melania Trump replied.

Do you think Melania is smarter than most in the mainstream media?

“It’s obvious I didn’t wear the jacket for the children, I wore the jacket to go on the plane and off the plane,” she continued.

Then she revealed where the white-letter message was truly directed: At the liberal media.

“It was for the people, and for the left-wing media who are criticizing me and I want to show them that I don’t care. You could criticize whatever you want to say but it will not stop me (from doing) what I feel is right,” the first lady explained.

In other words, it seems Melania has learned a few tricks from her powerful husband about riling up the media and sending them into a frenzy.

“After the visit I put it back on because I see how the media got obsessed about it,” she said.

Her use of a jacket to “troll” the left was confirmed by the president himself, who sent a similar message on Twitter back in June.

“‘I REALLY DON’T CARE, DO U?’ written on the back of Melania’s jacket, refers to the Fake News Media. Melania has learned how dishonest they are, and she truly no longer cares!” Trump posted on social media.

Despite the left’s attempts to paint the first lady as distant or to even spread shallow rumors about her personal life, Melania Trump’s approval ratings have been climbing steadily.

An SSRS/CNN poll found that as of mid October, the first lady has approval numbers that are close to their highest so far in this presidency.

Fifty-four percent of Americans have a favorable view of her, while only 30 percent have an unfavorable opinion. Her supposedly “offensive” jacket message doesn’t seem to have dented those results.

That’s probably because like the president and the first lady, a high number of Americans are fed up with attacks and bias coming from the media. Melania Trump has become an icon of calm, intelligent elegance … but it looks like she can still call out liberals when the time is right.
