Michelle's Version of Trump's Inauguration Is Everything We Can't Stand About the Obamas

Share

Former first lady Michelle Obama recently revealed what President Donald Trump’s inauguration was like from her perspective. And it wasn’t a fun time for her.

The comments were made while Obama was on a tour promoting her book “Becoming.”

Talking with “Good Morning America’s” Robin Roberts, Obama said that she even stopped trying to smile during the 2017 inauguration.

But Obama had no trouble smiling during the recent interview. The reporter affectionately referred to her husband as “No-Drama Obama.”

Note the narcissism. She didn’t want to smile at being part of yet another peaceful transition of power in the most powerful country the world has ever seen. She didn’t want to smile at the continuity of an American tradition.

For Michelle Obama, apparently, the inauguration was all about her, not her country. And that kind of arrogance is exactly the quality conservatives couldn’t stand about the Obamas when they were in the White House.

While Obama was worried about “optics” and whether to smile or not at the inauguration, President Donald Trump was taking his first steps toward moving America away from direction of his predecessor.

Recently, Trump took aim at the Obamas while answering a reporter’s question, roasting both Michelle Obama’s book and the shape her husband left the military in when his term ended.

In fact, under Trump’s guidance, the United States military is performing the best in years on the world stage.

From the complete destruction of the Islamic State group to “red lines” that are actually enforced, two years of Trump have shown how well suited he is to the role of commander in chief.

The Military Times even profiled Obama’s popularity with the military at the end of his presidency. He did not have good numbers, with pluralities or majorities of officers and enlisted personnel holding unfavorable views in the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines.

Does this make you even more glad the Obamas are no longer in the White House?

Military members are not the only ones who had a problem with the Obamas.

#ThanksMichelleObama flooded Twitter with pictures of supposed school lunches that looked laughably horrible. The outrage stemmed from the former first lady’s attempts to control what schools were allowed to offer students to eat.

The result of this ended up being inadequate and unappetizing lunches.

Perhaps Michelle Obama refused to smile because of what she and her husband were unable to accomplish in eight long years.

Trump, with only two years on the job, is now boasting an incredibly strong economy. Black unemployment is at record lows, something Barack Obama was unable to achieve.

Foreign leaders are also taking notice. Trump’s interactions with formerly hostile leaders like North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un have defied even conservative expectations of Trump’s diplomatic prowess.

Michelle Obama can be seen at the 2017 inauguration in this YouTube video from France 24 English.

It’s unclear at what point during the ceremony the former first lady decided not to smile, but the fawning tone of the commentators should have made her happy.

But a good number of Americans have been smiling ever since Trump took the oath of office.
