MLK's Niece Flips the Script on Accusations Trump Is Racist: 'Absolutely Not'

Share

When it comes to racism, the niece of America’s greatest civil rights hero knows what she’s talking about.

And in an interview with Fox News, minister and pro-life advocate Alveda King — whose uncle was the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. — didn’t mince words about accusations that President Donald Trump is a “racist.”

“Absolutely not,” King told “Fox & Friends” host Steve Doocy on Tuesday.

The interview took place a day after King was among several black pastors who visited the White House amid Trump’s very public clash with Democrats and Rep. Elijah Cummings over Trump’s criticisms that Cummings had neglected his Baltimore congressional district.

Democrats and their allies in the mainstream media lost no time branding Trump’s remarks as “racist,” but King told Doocy she took a considerably different view.

“What the president is simply saying is, ‘Your communities need to be fixed,'” she said.

The heart of the interview came near the end, when Doocy asked about the torrent of leftist claims that Trump’s tussle with Cummings was driven by racial prejudice.

Doocy played a string of segments from politicians and liberal media commentators — so similar to one another they all might have been speaking from the same script.

Could liberals learn from Alveda King's words?

But King didn’t have a problem flipping that script at all.

“All of that news is absolutely fake,” she said.

At the Oval Office meeting on Monday, she said, Trump “went on to remind us that he cares about all Americans. We all bleed the same, that’s something the president has said, ‘One race, one human race.’

“So he’s not a racist, absolutely not.”

King then noted how Trump’s policies have benefited black Americans, saying results matter — even if that’s not something that would be apparent from watching the mainstream media or reading the country’s biggest newspapers.

“And the programs he has moved forward — the higher job market is helping African-Americans. The criminal justice reform, helping African-Americans,” King told Doocy.

Those are the words of a woman who knows what she’s talking about.

Liberals might try listening to her sometime.
