Most of Hollywood's Ignoring Fonda Threats, But Sony Just Ripped Him Apart in Public Statement

Share

The double standards of the political left in America were on glaring display in the aftermath of an absolutely vile Twitter rant by Hollywood leftist Peter Fonda, which garnered minimal notice or pushback from liberals.

In his series of explicit tweets — which have since been deleted — Fonda called for President Donald Trump’s youngest son, Barron, to be “ripped from the arms” of first lady Melania Trump and thrown in a cage with pedophiles in a bid to force the first lady to convince the president to change his immigration enforcement policies.

Fonda also called for Border Patrol and Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials — as well as their children — to be publicly identified, stalked and harassed by outraged liberals.

On top of that, he also demanded Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristjen Nielsen be caged naked and whipped in public and on film, and called for the kidnapping of White House press secretary Sarah Sanders’ children, according to The Daily Caller.

Fonda also smeared Trump adviser Stephen Miller as being a Nazi propagandist, according to TMZ. (That’s particularly vile, considering Miller is Jewish).

While Fonda’s utterly atrocious Twitter rant drew fierce condemnations from the right — and rightly garnered the attention of the Secret Service, according to The Hollywood Reporter — his Hollywood friends and liberal allies have remained fairly silent, save for Sony Pictures, which is about to release a movie that features Fonda.

According to The Daily Caller, Sony released a statement that condemned Fonda’s disgusting threats, but declined to pull or alter the movie in which he is featured.

“Peter Fonda’s comments are abhorrent, reckless and dangerous, and we condemn them completely,” the official Sony statement declared, prior to providing cover for both itself and the film.

“It is important to note that Mr. Fonda plays a very minor role in the film,” the statement continued. “To pull or alter this film at this point would unfairly penalize the filmmaker Shana Feste’s accomplishment, the many actors, crew members and other creative talent that worked hard on the project.

Are you sick and tired of the double standard enjoyed by Hollywood leftists?

“We plan to open the film as scheduled this weekend, in a limited release of five theaters,” the statement added.

The manner in which Sony condemned Fonda but refrained from taking broader action against the new movie he appears in stands in stark contrast to the recent dust-up over controversial tweets by Roseanne Barr.

In Barr’s case, she was not only condemned and portrayed as the worst person in the world, but she also had her popular sit-com summarily canceled by ABC, seemingly without a second thought as to how that punishment might impact “the many actors, crew members and other creative talent that worked hard on the project.”

If it weren’t for double standards, the left would have no standards at all.

For his part, Fonda released an apology through a spokesman that insincerely attempted to blame his vile outbursts on the current media obsession over illegal immigrant children being temporarily separated from their illegal immigrant parents after being detained for illegally crossing the border.

As terrible as the plight of those children may be — and it is debatable as to the veracity of media reports on the true situation, or how long it has been going on — it serves as no excuse for the horrific things he said about Barron and Melania Trump, DHS Secretary Nielsen or press secretary Sanders.

If the left had any sort of moral consistency, Fonda would absolutely be condemned as persona non grata, banished and ostracized from his Hollywood circle and left to live out the rest of his miserable life in isolated infamy and obscurity.

Alas, the left has no standards, morals or consistency, so they will remain quiet in the hopes that the furor over Fonda’s tweets will eventually die down and the “star” can remain in their cloistered clique as a member in good standing of liberal Hollywood.
