MS-13 Members Get Chilling 4-Word Order: 'Take Out a Cop'
Part of President Donald Trump’s effort to restore law and order to America after the lax policies of the Obama administration is to crack down on criminal gangs that traffic in narcotics and commit violent acts against their own communities.
A chief target of the crackdown among those gangs is that of MS-13, a massive and brutal gang found nationwide which originated in El Salvador and is largely composed of Central Americans, many of whom are in the U.S. illegally.
According to the New York Post, it obtained a memo that has been circulated among the New York Police Department which has prompted all officers to be placed on high alert for attempts by the gang to “take out a cop” as a way to make a “statement.”
The memo contained information supplied by a “credible” informant to the NYPD by a suspect believed to be a member of the notorious gang that has a major presence in parts of New York City.
“The police have been making too many arrests and it’s time to take the streets back and take out (shoot) a cop like we do in El Salvador,” the suspect is alleged to have said, according to the informant.
In particular, MS-13 would like to “take out” a cop in Hempstead, a town on Long Island that is something of an MS-13 “stronghold,” and the order to take out a cop is a standing one that applies to any member of the gang.
The NYPD memo warned, “It is imperative for members of the service to take these threats seriously and adapt their work habits and lifestyles accordingly.”
According to The Daily Caller, the impetus for the order to kill a cop could stem from the fact that police in New York’s Nassau County have arrested approximately 150 MS-13 gang members in just the past few months.
One prominent arrest was that of 35-year-old Miguel Angel Corea Diaz, known on the streets as the “Reaper,” who was thought to be a top leader of the gang on the East Coast.
Diaz was arrested in Maryland but has been extradited to Long Island to be arraigned and stand trial.
“This defendant, known as Reaper, allegedly ordered murders and trafficked large amounts of poisonous heroin up and down the eastern seaboard,” said Nassau County District Attorney Madeline Singas.
“What started as a narcotics investigation with the Drug Enforcement Administration quickly expanded in scope and geography to include murder and violence committed by alleged MS-13 members throughout the United States and El Salvador,” she added.
The threat posed by this gang, which would so boldly order a “hit” on any random NYPD officer in retaliation for the arrest of gang members, is nothing short of chilling.
It is also rather infuriating as well, considering that many of the gang members are illegal immigrants who shouldn’t even be in the country, much less committing violent crimes or threatening to assassinate police officers.
But thanks to Democratic intransigence on efforts to reform immigration laws and secure the southern border, the MS-13 problem is only getting worse. Add to that the insanity of “sanctuary city” policies that allow criminals like these gang members to return to the streets instead of being handed over for deportation, and we can clearly see how progressive obstruction has made our nation less safe.
Hopefully, the MS-13 gang members intent on taking out a cop will be unsuccessful in their efforts, and the NYPD will be able to track down and arrest the leaders of the group who put out the murderous order.
