MSNBC Commentator Throws Logic Out the Window: Doesn't Care About Facts, Kavanaugh Is Guilty
Ana Marie Cox, founder of Wonkette — a foul-mouthed far-left political gossip and satire site — has let it be known that facts are not important in determining whether or not Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh actually assaulted Christine Ford when the two were teenagers.
In the sacred court of Cox’s opinion, she’s already judged him and found him guilty.
Cox appeared Monday on MSNBC’s “The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell” to discuss the allegation against Kavanaugh about the incident from more than 30 years ago. Cox believes we can make a judgment on Kavanaugh’s guilt based solely on the level of emotional sympathy of his response to the allegation.
“We need to judge Brett Kavanaugh, not just by what he may or may not have done, but how he treats a woman’s pain,” Cox said.
“And that is something I’m going to be paying attention to on Monday,” she added, making reference to his scheduled testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee about the allegations. “How does he respond to what’s happening, whether or not he agrees that this happened with her? Does he take her pain seriously?”
Kavanaugh has denied Ford’s accusation, which means one of them isn’t telling the truth. If Ford’s lying, why should Kavanaugh have to “feel her pain”? If Kavanaugh’s a liar (and an assaulter), he’ll be judged for much more than his level of empathy.
“Do the people interrogating her pain take her pain seriously? Now, I’ll give you a spoiler alert, I don’t think Brett Kavanaugh takes women’s pain very seriously, and I know that because of the decisions he’s made as a judge,” Cox said.
Cox assumes Kavanaugh doesn’t take women’s pain seriously based on his legal decisions? Really? I thought legal decisions were guided by the rule of law and what the Constitution allows, not by making sure everybody feels good with the ruling.
Does Cox not take into account the glowing endorsements of Kavanaugh his former law clerk and his former girlfriends have given? How about the fact he’s never been accused of any improper behavior at any other time in his life?
Instead, Cox believes that as soon as Ford accused Kavanaugh and he immediately denied it, the denial alone provided the American people with all the facts they needed to realize he was guilty.
This is how the left treats politics. When a liberal accuses a conservative of anything, the conservative is automatically guilty because it’s the only way they see of furthering their agenda.
But Cox’s claims reveal how deceitful this line of thinking is.
While making as loud a show of concern for the accuser’s feelings as they can, liberals like Cox won’t even consider the possibility that what is alleged to have happened may not have happened.
So liberals like Cox ultimately dismiss any notion of justice. The truth doesn’t matter. Real assault victims’ experiences do not matter. All that matters is how the accused reacts when charges are brought against him.
According to the establishment media, Kavanaugh is exempt from the fundamental presumption of innocence until proven guilty — especially because he’s a conservative male.
And heck, they don’t even need any facts to back up the allegation. He simply denied the charge. What more do liberals need?
