Share

A Muslim doctor at the prestigious Cleveland Clinic was allegedly fired after anti-Semitic social media messages — including one promising to give Jews incorrect medication — were reported to her supervisors.

As WOIO reported on Monday, Dr. Lara Kollab, had been a resident at the Cleveland, Ohio, institution after graduating Touro Medical School in New York. However, her social media past seems to have caught up with her. She was reportedly fired in September.

The messages, which go back to 2012, were archived by the Canary Mission, which highlights anti-Semitic tweets by prominent individuals.

In one tweet, she promises to jeopardize the lives of Jews in her chosen profession: “hahha ewww.. ill purposely give all the yahood (Jews) the wrong meds…” she wrote in January of 2012.

While this was the only instance in which she offered to use her profession to harm Jewish people, it wasn’t the only time threats of harm against Jewish people allegedly arose.

Canary Mission has published what an extensive list of Twitter posts it says Kollab posted:

“Khalid stop starting fala7i vs madani (peasant vs civilized) wars on twitter! roo7o (go) fight with yahood (Jews) instead. Yallah,” one apparent tweet read.

Do you think this doctor should lose her license?

“@ShabanSalya Allah yo5od el yahood 3ashan enbattel nettar nroo7 3nd hel wes5een -___- (May Allah take back [end the lives] of the Jews so we stop being forced to go to those unclean ones)” another tweet allegedly said.

Other alleged tweets peddled non-violent anti-Semitism.

“shoof, ah 7efa 7elwe bes 7efa kolha yahood klab w looks like America, ya3ni wasn’t that special to me (look, Haifa is sweet (nice), but it’s full of Jewish dogs, and it looks like America, meaning, it wasn’t that special to me),” one read.

“Annoying to go to school in a city full of Jews because everywhere I go I hear about the wonderful israel. About to tell this guy to stfu,” another read.

“walking through the streets of palestine is funny- every person who gets mad says something along the lines of ‘Allah yo5odhom el yahood’ (Allah will take them, the Jews),” read another.

“why is this airport literally full of Jews. I just had an evil staring contest with one bc he was staring. they look like settlers,” she wrote in another.

A statement from the Cleveland Clinic on Monday seemed to lend some credence to the legitimacy of the tweets.

“Cleveland Clinic was recently made aware of comments posted to social media by a former employee,” the statement read.

“This individual was employed as a supervised resident at our hospital from July to September 2018. She is no longer working at Cleveland Clinic. In no way do these beliefs reflect those of our organization. We fully embrace diversity, inclusion and a culture of safety and respect across our entire health system.”

In addition, a report from Yeshiva World News seemed to indicate that Kollab was no longer with the organization because the clinic become aware of her anti-Semitic postings.

“YWN spoke to employees at the Clinic, and in fact, she has long been fired from her job at the Clinic. She started at the Clinic on July 1 2018 and when this was discovered in September she was immediately fired,” the outlet reported Monday.

The Jerusalem Post seemed to confirm Yeshiva World News’ reporting by noting Kollab’s firing with its headline on the story, although it didn’t provide similar details.

According to the Cleveland Plain Dealer, Kollab’s medical license will be still be valid until July of 2021. The paper was unable to reach her for comment as of Monday.
