NeverTrumper John Kasich 'Very Seriously' Considering 2020 Run
Ohio Gov. John Kasich is a tough one to figure out sometimes.
The Republican’s “NeverTrump” campaign failed spectacularly when then-GOP nominee Donald Trump resoundingly won Ohio during the 2016 election. Kasich did himself no favors by coming out and saying he would likely never support Trump.
Kasich has also been shredded by critics after he publicly said he wanted more refugees to be accepted into Ohio. That was a not-so-subtle jab at the Trump administration’s hard line stance against illegal immigration.
But by that same token, Kasich has also come to the defense of Trump on occasion.
Kasich once criticized CNN for the network’s blatantly slanted and biased coverage of Trump. In the immediate aftermath of Trump’s 2016 upset victory over Hillary Clinton, Kasich also publicly declared that the anti-Trump protesters need to respect the election results.
But at the end of the day, Kasich has made his anti-Trump position crystal clear.
I gave him every chance, but I’ve come to the conclusion that @realDonaldTrump is simply incapable of being a unifier or accepting any personal responsibility.

And it had already been well known that Trump was not exactly a big Kasich fan.

Fortunately for fans of this simmering feud, it doesn’t seem like it’s going to end anytime soon.
Appearing on “ABC This Week” on Sunday with George Stephanopoulos, Kasich said he is “very seriously” considering a presidential run in 2020.
“We need different leadership,” Kasich said.
“There isn’t any question about it. I’m not only just worried about the tone and the name-calling and the division in our country and the partisanship, but I also worry about the policies, rising debt, inability to deal with immigration, the problems we have as America alone in the world, what I consider a rotten deal with the Saudis to look the other way.”
Kasich rambled on about how worried he was for America.
“I’m worried about our country, not just in the short term. The question for me is what do I do about this?” he said.
“Do I run because I’ve determined that I can win? Or is it important for me to make such a good showing that I can send a message that can disrupt the political system in this country? So yeah I have to think about it. I think about it seriously.”
“Disrupt the political system in this country”? Sorry, Mr. Kasich, but Trump already beat you to that — and the liberals and the establishment hate him for it.
While Kasich wanting to run for president would certainly add some fuel to his feud with Trump, one has to wonder what Kasich is trying to accomplish here aside from just getting his name out in the media.

By virtue of the “R” next to his name, Kasich will almost assuredly not get much love from Democratic voters.
And Republicans have already sent Kasich a very loud and clear message in 2016 that he was not their choice. It’s doubtful the feeling in 2020 would be any different.
If insanity is doing the same thing over and over again while expecting different results, Gov. Kasich might want to take a long look at his mental health.
