It’s hard to imagine the Islamic State group capable of hitting new lows, but as the battle for Mosul rages on, they have proven once again that no atrocity is off the table.
The Islamic State group was thought to be the group that has launched a chemical attack against women and children, the U.K. Daily Mail reported.
Although the identity of the attackers had not been confirmed, the attack came from ISIS-held West Mosul — it’s hard to imagine the attack being perpetrated by anyone else.

A dozen victims have been treated since the first of March, many of whom were women and children. One of those children was 2 months old.
It was reportedly the first chemical attack in the fight for the ISIS stronghold.
The United Nations’ World Health Organization has even been mobilized, activating “an emergency response plan to safely treat men, women and children who may be exposed to the highly toxic chemical,” according to the Daily Mail.

U.N. Humanitarian Coordinator in Iraq Lise Grande expressed outrage. According to the Daily Mail, she has called for an investigation.
“This is horrible,” she said. “If the alleged use of chemical weapons is confirmed, this is a serious violation of international humanitarian law and a war crime, regardless of who the targets or the victims of the attacks are.”
It’s hard not to be angry with former President Barack Obama and his administration when receiving such news. If he had actually had a spine over the eight years of his presidency, atrocities like this might not be happening today.
