Newspaper's Story Leaves Out Picture of Suspect in Racist Hate Crime. Can You Guess Why?

Day by day, story by story, the leftist media is inching dangerously closer to becoming full-blown propaganda.

For anyone who has been paying even remote attention to the media’s abhorrent behavior lately, this isn’t exactly news.

Whether its blatant hypocrisy and favoritism or unhinged attacks on all things Trump-related, it certainly feels like fairness and journalistic integrity have died a sudden and violent death.

I mean, how can anyone possibly defend the inherent biases and misleading narrative present in this article from The Hill?

The newspaper took it upon itself to take an absolutely tragic story and somehow twist it into anti-Trump propaganda while conveniently leaving out details that would otherwise destroy their leftist narratives.

Citing a Friday article from The Salt Lake Tribune, The Hill reported on a Utah man and his son who were beaten in their own tire shop on Tuesday morning.

Jose Lopez and his son Luis Gustavo Lopez were attacked by a man, Alan Dale Covington, who wielded a pole and shouted, according to the Tribune. The attacker yelled that he was “here to kill a Mexican,” the Tribune reported.

The son took the very worst of the attack, as he was hit in the face and ultimately admitted to the intensive care unit. Luis Gustavo reportedly suffered a shattered cheekbone and eye socket with a collapsed sinus to boot. The images circulating of Luis Lopez on social media are grim, to say the least.

“I hate Mexicans,” Covington reportedly yelled as he was attacking. “I f—ing hate Mexicans… I’m here to kill a Mexican!”

Check out coverage from Fox 13 in Salt Lake City.

Obviously, this is a tragic story, and as the Tribune reports, is somehow not being classified as a hate crime due to a “shortcoming” in the state code. Instead, Covington was charged with two felony counts of aggravated assault, as well as three weapon and drug charges. He was being held in the Salt Lake County jail on $100,000 bail.

Due to Utah state laws, the Tribune reported, only misdemeanor crimes can qualify as hate crimes.

“Although we want to pat ourselves on the back and say we have a hate crime statute, it’s really not enforceable,” said Salt Lake County District Attorney Sim Gill.

It’s truly mind boggling how this isn’t a hate crime. As the FBI defines it, a hate crime is a “criminal offense against a person or property motivated in whole or in part by an offender’s bias against a race, religion, disability, sexual orientation, ethnicity, gender, or gender identity.”

It seems abundantly clear that a person yelling “I’m here to kill a Mexican” before assaulting people should be classified as a hate crime. Granted, in 2018 leftists have all but destroyed the actual meaning of a hate crime with their incessant crying of wolf, this still seems, at bare minimum, a crime drive by hatred of a particular nationality.

But as inane as it is, at least the dumb ruling is based on a legal loophole.

The Hill has no such loopholes to defend its narrative. The publication took a decidedly anti-Trump angle by reporting that the Lopez family has felt more targeted since President Donald Trump came into office. To be fair, if the family feels that way, that’s certainly a piece of the whole story. (It’s worth noting that USA Today likewise left out the image and race of the suspect, while other typically liberal publications like BuzzFeed and The Washington Post made it part of their coverage.)

That being said, The Hill seemed willfully obtuse about the identity of the attacker. Covington is a black man, but you will find no mention of that anywhere in its account. Liberals would likely counter that statement by asking what the man’s race has to do with the story.

My counter to that line of thinking would be to ask why, any time a crime fits their leftist narrative, race is always brought up? ABC News literally put “white man” in a title in a story about students being threatened. CNN opens a story about a killing at a Kroger grocery store with “A white man…” Even The Hill saw fit to make a white man’s race abundantly clear in an October headline about a shooting.

But Covington’s race isn’t worth mentioning in a case that has obvious racial implications because… why?

Because this is how the leftist media creates their sickening and deceptive narrative. They willfully leave out certain facts to create assumptions in the minds of their readers.

It’s a shame and a disservice to Americans everywhere, regardless of the color of their skin, and cannot possibly be called out enough.
