NFL QB, Devout Christian Stuns Interviewer With Incredible Announcement About His Family
In an interview on a sports talk radio show on Monday, Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers says even though he has eight children, both he and his wife are looking for more.
Rivers, a devout Catholic, currently has six girls and two boys, according to The Daily Wire.
Of course, he started early. Now 36, he married his wife, Tiffany, when he was 19 and she was 18.

When Rivers was interviewed on broadcast veteran Dan Patrick’s show early in the week, the host joked about the athlete’s procreative tendencies.
“We were trying to bet on how many kids you have now,” Patrick joked. “I went with eight.”
“You’re on it!” Rivers replied. “You nailed it. Six girls and two boys.”
So, are Rivers and his wife done having children?
“Heck no! I hope not,” he said.
“I should talk to your wife,” Patrick responded. “Does your wife know that you want to have more?”

“Oh yeah, she’s all in,” the quarterback said.
“Six girls?” Patrick asked.
“Yeah, six girls,” he said. “But I’ll tell you what, the three oldest are girls. Now they’re 16, 13, and 12, so we have a lotta little mamas in the house, helping out.”
Patrick seemed slightly awestruck: “My God!”
“It’s awesome,” Rivers said.
So, did the girls think he was “stupid?”
“No,” Rivers said. “Well, sometimes. Just in general, you know, like ‘Dad!'”
Rivers has been outspoken about his Catholic faith, as in an interview with LifeTeen where he described the importance of Catholicism to his marriage.
“I think the biggest thing is to be with your best friend, and it starts right there, that’s the key I believe,” he said. “(Natural Family Planning) has a lot to do with the strength of our marriage. It allows the understanding that we’re on the same page. There’s discipline and sacrifice that comes with that so we’re able bond in many different ways.
“And the thing I’m most thankful for is that we’re both in the church because you have an immediate bond. I don’t know any of these people here today, but I already feel like we’re buddies just because we have that connection to the church. That was important for my wife to be Catholic as well. She’s been great for me and also as a mom and wife.”
Of course, in a culture where having more children is frowned upon (at least by the left), Rivers’ decision to go for nine might be frowned upon. However, as he’s clearly a family man and a man of faith, we applaud his decision — and the decision of any parent to make the choice for more life.
