Ocasio-Cortez Shows Up at Pelosi's Office and Instantly Becomes Nightmare for Dem. Leader
Imagine being so far to the left that you make Nancy Pelosi seem moderate and stable.
That’s the position that Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is now in. The self-described New York socialist who pulled off a surprise win for Congress hasn’t even taken office yet, but she’s already managed to make enemies within her own party.
On Tuesday, just a week after the midterm election, Ocasio-Cortez appeared in Washington but acted more like an “antifa” activist than a responsible national lawmaker. Flanked by far-leftist protesters, the congresswoman-elect gave a proverbial middle finger to Rep. Pelosi.
Yes, the same Pelosi who is the party leader and is likely be the top ranking member of Congress in a few short months.
“Ocasio-Cortez joined a group of young activists called the ‘Sunrise Movement’ in staging a sit-in protest outside the Capitol Hill office of Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), the House Minority Leader and, come January, the likely Speaker of the House — and Ocasio-Cortez’s new boss,” reported The Daily Wire.
As the raucous protesters blocked the entrance to Pelosi’s government office, Ocasio-Cortez encouraged and interacted with the mob of around 50 people, who vaguely demanded a “Green New Deal” and “Green Jobs For All.”
Ah yes, democratic socialism in 2018: Impossibly calling for magical, government-guaranteed jobs for every single person isn’t enough. They need to be “green” as well.
“The event marked Ocasio-Cortez’s first visit to the soon-to-be Speaker’s office, and leftists were pretty miffed that she introduced herself to her Democratic colleagues not by embracing inter-party collegiality, but by openly disagreeing with her party’s long-time leadership,” explained Daily Wire.
Think about this for a moment: By joining a protest blocking Pelosi’s office, an elected official is now openly interfering with another duly-elected lawmaker from her own party. For all the problems with Pelosi, she still is a representative of her constituents — and Ocasio-Cortez just stepped between her and nearly a million Californians.
Even liberals on social media were appalled by Ocasio-Cortez’s tone-deaf stunt.

“WTF are you doing? Nancy Pelosi is your friend, not your enemy,” posted one user. “This is an bizarre choice for the protesters since NP unilaterally passed major climate legislation with no buy-in from the Senate in 2009,” noted another.
“Perhaps [Alexandria] doesn’t know how Congress works,” wondered yet another Twitter user.
That’s a distinct — though terrifying — possibility. After all, Ocasio-Cortez’s campaign was a comedy of errors.
We’re talking about someone who doesn’t know the difference between red and blue states, rambles about Palestine before admitting she doesn’t know what she’s talking about, and bizarrely believes that a congressman’s job is to be “signing bills.”
On one hand, it’s jaw-dropping that this is the person chosen by many New Yorkers to represent them. One the other hand, however, it’s yet another example of the left eating itself and moving ever further away from the mainstream.
At this rate, it won’t be long before liberals make Democrats of just a few years ago look downright conservative — and that would mean that they’ve alienated everyday Americans far beyond the point of no return.
