Ocasio-Cortez Tweet Dissolves into Fake News After Origin of 'Insurance' Letter Found

Share

Another day, another insane tweet from everyone’s least favorite democratic socialist.

Congresswoman-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez took to Twitter on Saturday to share the story of a letter that suggested a fundraiser to cover medical expenses.

She begins by slamming insurance groups in the post before advocating for full government-run health care.

The only problem? The letter isn’t from an insurance company.

If Ocasio-Cortez would have bothered to read the letter, she may have seen the address, name and all the other context clues proving this was not from an insurance group.

If that detective work was too nuanced for her, maybe the all-caps “SPECTRUM HEALTH RICHARD DEVOS HEART AND LUNG TRANSPLANT CLINIC” could have clued her in to the letter’s origins.

Twitter users were unimpressed with fake news being spread by an elected official, and took to roasting the New York Democrat in brutal fashion.

Ocasio-Cortez’s original tweet is still published despite the flood of comments suggesting it be removed.

With over 1 million followers on her Twitter account, the fake news she posted was able to spread like wildfire. Tens of thousands of people have retweeted the letter and Ocasio-Cortez’s commentary, helping the misinformation reach even further.

Considering how important a single-payer health care system is to leftists, it’s unlikely this tweet will come down at all.

Perhaps Ocasio-Cortez can learn from the blunder of Obamacare, where a step toward socialized medicine turned into a political and health care disaster that the United States is still recovering from.

Unfortunately, Democrats like her are not elected for their logical thinking and respect for American institutions.

And with her term in office yet to begin, this is likely the first of many embarrassing gaffes from Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
