Oscar Winner Jon Voight Takes 2 Minutes to Give Incredible Description of Trump

Share

Oscar-winning actor Jon Voight is one of the few open conservatives in Hollywood and one of even fewer who’s willing to openly support President Trump. In an appearance on Mark Levin’s Fox News show this weekend, he managed to give his reasons pretty succinctly — in just under two minutes, actually.

Voight, who appeared at Trump’s inauguration, is probably best known these days as the father of actress Angelina Jolie. He’s an accomplished thespian in his own right, having won Best Actor at the Oscars in 1979 for his role in Hal Ashby’s “Coming Home.”

In his appearance on this weekend’s “Life, Liberty and Levin,” Voight was asked by the host what he would say to America about the president.

“Well, I would say, ‘have hope.’ There’s wonderful things happening every day thanks in great part to this president that we have,” Voight said.

Trump, he said, was “very specifically talented for this time and all of the dangers that exist in our world and in our country that he’s able to face, get up in the morning, fresh, go through a day, 15 hours later just as fresh, having mud (thrown) at him, all these lies and slanders that he deals with.”

“Doesn’t affect him,” Voight continued.

“Water off a duck’s back. And he keeps going.”

The president, Voight said, “has around him a legion of very talented people.”

Do you agree with Jon Voight?

“If you look at the Republican Party and the conservative world, and you look at the Democrat Party, there’s no comparison. The Democrats are bereft of talent. They don’t have talented leadership. There are no statesmen — no statesmen — in the Democratic world.

“But in the Republican world, or the conservative world,” he told Levin, “there are many brothers that you have like yourself who are of stature, who are primed with specific gifts to answer today’s challenge, who are giving us information every day, and I can give you 50 people, I bet, that I have met personally — and I can go through a long list, and you can give me another 50, and all of the people on your show — all of these people are of very high stature. So we have hope.”

We also have change, too. Except this is hope and change we can really believe in.

What Voight is saying isn’t going to be popular around Hollywood — publicly, anyhow — but if you want to judge his statements, I’d advise you to look at two things: The economy and the Brett Kavanaugh Supreme Court confirmation hearings.

In August, CNBC reported Friday, the economy created more jobs than expected and wage growth was at a post-Great Recession high.

Meanwhile, on Capitol Hill, two 2020 Democrat hopefuls were grilling Kavanaugh on the Senate Judiciary Committee. Sen. Cory Booker of New Jersey had his infamous “Spartacus moment” where he released “classified” documents that had already been declassified, and Sen. Kamala Harris of California released edited footage of Kavanaugh to completely change the meaning of one of his answers.

None of this affected Kavanaugh — or Trump, for that matter. But it showed how hollow the Democrat Party is at the top.

That’s not exactly comprehensive, but it shows Voight is on the right track.
