Photographer Defends Herself After Leftists Launch Vile Attack Against Baby's Photo Shoot
Sometimes I think leftists just work a lot harder than everyone else. I mean, it can be hard to find things to get constantly offended about. Not to mention it’s exhausting work. But it has to be done.
WGN-TV reports that recently, some people got offended when a photographer dressed a baby as the main character from the popular holiday movie “A Christmas Story.”
Amy Haehl, a newborn and wedding photographer from Indiana, had to defend the picture after some criticized it for being inappropriate.
For the photo, Haehl posed a newborn baby dressed as the main character Ralphie, along with a replica of the character’s famous BB gun.
Haehl wrote that she’d wanted to have a photo shoot based on the movie for a long time and that she was glad to share something positive “in contrast to all of the negativity out there.”
“Of course this photo couldn’t be perfect without representing the Red Ryder BB gun,” Haehl wrote.
“I searched and searched for one that would be small/newborn-sized and obviously not a real gun to avoid controversy.”
Wanting to make something fun and cute, Haehl intended no political overtones in her photo at all … but that didn’t stop people from finding some. Some expressed their outrage at the innocent baby photo.
“Will now unfollow you. Who the hell would take a picture of a baby and a gun just for money. Such a waste since you are so talented. Think hard about your lack of principles,” one person wrote on Haehl’s Facebook page.
“Also unfollowing and unliking you. Extremely distasteful…. Guns are never ‘cute’, not even as a prop or movie reference. Disgusting. The gun culture in this country is a disgrace,” another wrote.
Haehl wrote a statement in response to the criticism, saying that “this photo is in no way meant to encourage gun violence or offend anyone who has been affected by gun violence.”
Saying that she simply wanted to bring a smile to people’s faces, Haehl wrote, “This photo is not about a baby posed with a ‘gun’… it is about love, tradition, family, and happiness. This movie has encouraged smiles, laughter, and happiness for 35 years.”
It takes some complex maneuvering to see what was intended as a cute, goofy photo of a baby and get offended about “principles.” Thankfully, most people weren’t offended and commented on the photo positively.
“I am also following you BECAUSE of this photo! This movie was an iconic part of my childhood and annual Christmas tradition <3 I love the whole thing – you are clearly very talented!” one person wrote.
Another person told Haehl, “NEVER apologize for being creative and talented. If they don’t get it, it’s their loss. God bless and merry christmas. I hope your business booms through this experience.”
Still, it goes to show how obsessed some people on the left can be about making every tiny thing political. Haehl’s response was perfect in explaining that this is not always the case.
