Pocahontas Descendant: I'll Welcome Warren to Tribe, But She's Got To Do 1 Thing First

Share

Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren still has to win her re-election campaign in the fall, but she’s made no secret about having her eyes on a bigger prize.

And a poll reported by the The Boston Globe on Wednesday of Democrat primary voters in the all-important state of New Hampshire shows she has a solid following among her fellow New Englanders when it comes to the presidential race.

But if Warren ever hopes to tangle with President Donald Trump on the campaign trail, she’s going to have to handle an even bigger challenge first.

Warren, of course, has been pilloried by the president as “Pocahontas” for her previous claims to have Native American ancestry. Warren’s claim that she is 1/32nd Cherokee helped her qualify as a “minority” at a time when Harvard, the school where she taught, was under pressure to hire minority faculty. (A Harvard Crimson article from 1996 identified Warren as “Native American,” though there’s never been a shred of evidence to back that up.)

Warren has claimed Trump was using “Pocahontas” as a racial slur, but a descendant of the Pocahontas has a different take entirely, and is offering Warren a chance to be welcomed into the Native American community if she chooses.

She just has to do one thing first: Take a DNA test to establish once and for all whether any Native American blood runs in her veins.

Debbie “White Dove” Porreco, now a resident of Palm Beach, Florida, went on Fox News’ “Tucker Carlson Tonight” on Tuesday to make her case.

“I respect Senator Warren as a U.S. senator,” Porreco told Carlson. “But I just wish she’d take the DNA test. And if she took the DNA test, that would end a lot of this controversy. And if she was part American Indian, I’d be the first one to welcome her into our heritage.”

Porreco is the kind of woman a Democrat like Warren can’t tolerate.

As an actual Native American, she’s not only got more claim to “victim” status — the kind of “cred” coveted by Democrats – she’s also an ardent Trump supporter who once told an interviewer, “If Pocahontas were alive today, she’d be very proud of Trump.”

“I’m a supporter of Donald Trump because he’s a go-getter,” she told Sky News in 2017. “He sees what he needs to do and does it.”

That kind of talk makes her a traitor to a Democratic Party that thinks it’s entitled to all women’s votes, but especially women from “minority” communities.

Should Elizabeth Warren take a DNA test to prove her Indian story is true?

But in reality, it just shows up Warren for the grasping opportunist she really is. While liberal Democrats and their even wackier “progressive” cousins harp constantly themes of “cultural appropriation” aimed at fostering white guilt, Warren’s brazen adoption of illusory American Indian blood demonstrates how empty Democrat claims to diversity are.

And Porreco nailed her on it.

It’s easy to find a Twitter mob ready to crucify a Utah teenager who wears a Chinese-style dress to her prom simply because she thinks it’s pretty, but any liberal criticism of Warren for literal “cultural appropriation” is missing from the conversation entirely.

Warren’s stonewalling of calls for a DNA test might be good enough for Granite State liberals but it’s not probably not halfway good enough outside of her home region, and it’s nowhere near good enough for her to win over Trump voters from 2016.

The challenge is there, and the door is open for Warren to walk through and prove herself an honest woman on her way to the presidential race.

But you can bet it’s a challenge Warren just won’t take.
