In Longview, Texas, a local thug attempted to rob a suburban home via the garage. Unfortunately for Kevin Mitchell Gonzales, 28, the homeowner was in the garage at the exact same time.
For the would-be robber, things went from bad to worse very quickly. A struggle between the two quickly devolved into a hand-to-hand brawl, and Gonzales, with no stomach for a fair fight, pulled out a .45 caliber pistol and took a wild shot.
He missed, and the bullet went way off through the ceiling. Afterward, the homeowner wrestled the weapon away.
The homeowner then kept the invader pinned until the police arrived.
I’m not a doctor, but I think Gonzales got the worse end of the fight, as this mugshot might suggest.
Once police arrived, they arrested Gonzales, at which time straights became considerably more dire for the thug. According to KLTV, “During the arrest, officers located 18 Lorazepam pills in a clear plastic bag in Gonzales’ pants pocket.”
Gonzales was charged with criminal trespass with a deadly weapon and possession of a controlled substance. Gonzales has been released on bond, and will be facing the charges shortly.
The homeowner was unharmed, apparently angry enough to have been the one dealing all the damage.
Although it was fortunate that no one except for the offending party was injured, this invasion could have gone quite badly. With the invader possessing a firearm, the homeowner could easily have faced a much more deadly end.
One would hope that this homeowner may consider exercising his Second Amendment rights and carrying a weapon for defense in the future.
