Social media sites have been caught discriminating against conservatives for some time now and that has gone into overdrive lately with Twitter’s ban of alt-right accounts.
In response to the censorship, conservative actor James Woods has announced that he will no longer use the social media service: “Since @Twitter is now in the #censorship business, I will no longer use its service for my constitutional right to free speech. #GoodbyeAll.”
Woods’ announcement left no doubt what he blamed,

This is really sad to see as Woods’ Twitter account was a welcome change from the normal deluge of leftist drivel from the Hollywood set.
Woods will leave a big hole on Twitter. He was an outspoken supporter of President-elect Donald Trump and a prominent conservative on the platform with around 500,000 followers. In addition to his huge number of readers, he was also quite active, with tons of Twitter interactions.

Woods will be missed by many on Twitter but his departure serves to highlight a serious problem — censorship. Twitter has a right to handle its business as it see fit. However, its actions likely wouldn’t fly if the ideologies were flipped.
A new site, Gab.ai, has garnered attention as a social media platform that has attracted users who have been angered by the censorship engaged in by the likes of Facebook and Twitter, as Gab.ai makes a point of its devotion to free speech.
If big social media sites continue down this path, they might find that like Woods, others who value free speech will jump ship.
