What Happened to Shania Twain After Trump Comment is Stunning

Share

Liberals are the most tolerant people around — just ask them.

Of course, their open-mindedness in accepting diversity of opinion seems to quickly end when somebody leans conservative, which is exactly what happened after one of the most well-known country music celebrities voiced her support for President Donald Trump.

Music superstar Shania Twain was quoted in an interview published over the weekend by The Guardian newspaper, and it contained a piece of information that sent the “tolerant” left into a tailspin.

As part of its list of questions, the U.K. paper asked Twain her thoughts on Trump. The singer is Canadian, so the question was a bit moot, but she answered it honestly.

“It is not the only way in which she expresses her conservatism. If she had been able to vote in the U.S. election, she would have plumped for Donald Trump, she says,”  The Guardian reported.

Twain echoed the views of millions of Americans who cast their ballot for Trump. “I would have voted for him because, even though he was offensive, he seemed honest. Do you want straight or polite?” she replied.

This shouldn’t be that controversial of an opinion. After all, about half of the United States voted for Trump, so there’s a pretty good chance that in any room of people, a decent percentage of them went red in the 2016 election. Isn’t diversity our strength, as liberals loves to say?

Apparently not. After the interview was published, the “tolerant” left bullied and harassed Twain relentlessly on social media.

“Shania Twain is an absolute disappointment,” declared Luke Waltham on his confirmed Twitter account.

Was Shania Twain wrong to apologize for expressing her opinion?

“Only racists (Trump supporters) will be buying her new music from now on.”

It was not clear if he believed those “racist Trump supporters” included the 37 million Hispanic voters who supported Trump, or the 10 million black voters who went Republican in the last presidential election.

Other people doubled down on labeling all Trump supporters, including the Canadian music star, as racist KKK members.

“Wow…Shania Twain really knows how to revive her career,” posted one verified Twitter user. “Tomorrow night she’ll be singing ‘Still the One’ at the KKK cross burning.”

Yes, this is how the left sees half the country. They cannot fathom that voters might have distrusted Hillary Clinton, wanted an America-first economic policy or were simply tired of establishment politicians.

No, the only answer is that 63 million Americans are all KKK members, even in states that went for Obama in 2012.

Sadly, Twain caved to the pressure of angry liberals, and issued an awkward four-part “apology” on Twitter for speaking her mind during an interview.

“I would like to apologise to anybody I have offended in a recent interview with the Guardian relating to the American President,” she posted.

“The question caught me off guard. As a Canadian, I regret answering this unexpected question without giving my response more context,” she continued, before rambling on in a useless attempt to appease the torch-carrying Twitter mob.

Ironically, her seemingly spineless and bizarre apology for having an opinion earned her even more scorn.

“All Shania Twain had to do is stick with her opinion and she still would have half of America rooting for her,” pointed out Andy Lassner, the executive producer of the decidedly liberal Ellen DeGeneres Show.

“By apologizing, she seems to have done an excellent job of alienating an entire country in a single weekend,” the Hollywood producer continued.

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee had similar thoughts on the Twain controversy.

“It’s so sad that the left refuses to allow anyone to speak his or her mind without being just pilloried and excoriated unless they agree with the left of center viewpoint that they hold,” he said during an appearance on Fox Business Network.

Huck is right, as he often is. We’ve entered a strange new era of McCarthyism, only instead of political witch-hunts to blacklist communist actors, it’s the left who is now going after anybody who dares have an unapproved opinion.

Remember, Twain didn’t even vote for Trump. She isn’t an American citizen. The left is pretending that if you don’t join their delusion that Trump is literally Hitler or the devil incarnate, you are suddenly an extremist.

Exaggerate, divide, and burn at the stake.

By smearing anyone with a personal opinion as a traitor to humanity, liberals are the ones who are becoming extremists… and that is part of why so many people were repelled by the left and voted for Trump in the first place.
